I will preface this by saying that though I was aware of RP strategy I just discovered this sub and it's pretty fantastic.
Quick info dump: I'm male, 25, single and work in tv (this will be important later). I grew up with pretty conservative parents and I spent a lot of time alone with music (was on track to do classical music professionally) which many times interfered with my want to be social. However, I'm an introvert by nature, and prefer smaller things instead of ragers and parties.
Anyway, onto the content.
I have never dated, seriously. I went on a few dates with girls in college but quickly knew that it wasn't working. A couple of girls I tried to forge on but that was wrong. I was, at the time, a virgin.
This continued until recently. I haven't really been looking, been focused on work and my on physical training and goals and that has made me happy.
I met this girl online, and we seemed to hit it off well. She was upfront about her situation: 26, separated but in the process of divorce, 2 young kids. She lives in the next state over, so not terribly far, but not close enough that I could drive over for dinner or something. We spoke for a few weeks on facebook and eventually via text, through the holidays and talked about meeting. Our first attempt was to get dinner on a weekend that she was supposed to be in town anyway for, but that fell through on her end. But when a photoshoot fell through just a couple of weeks later (this has been confirmed) we made plans for her to visit, and she booked her flights and hotel rooms.
The weekend was great, there were a lot of firsts: my first BJ, my first sex, my first kiss (not necessarily in that order). It was a pretty fucking crazy rush of emotions and physical input that I had never had, and was getting it all at once. Once she left, the texting was still fun, flirty and sometimes sexy. We still skyped or called.
Two weeks after we first met we went to Vegas together. It was kind of a chance overlap of our intentions--she was going that weekend for a fitness competition, and I was going to be there anyway to place bets on the Super Bowl. I offered to be her little cheering squad and we made our plans for the room and such (which she paid for).
Vegas was also great. There was more sex, there was more kissing, lots of physical contact initiated by her while we walked the strip. It was a lot of fun.
Then shit started to go down.
Being separated, she still has a husband, and while it's not illegal for her to see other people in this stage, her husband is a bit oldfashioned and doesn't see it in the same light. He is in the military and "manipulative and controlling", were the words she used. I liked something of hers on facebook, which he saw and flipped about, he showed up at her place and confronted her about it. It should be noted that prior to this, I had posted a couple of public links on her wall which didn't have this response. Additionally, none of the stuff we did together (or any of the photos we took together) ended up on social media. Because of his response, she severed our social media ties, and asked to keep that to a minimum until the divorce was finalized.
Since then, our texting has reduced dramatically. We call or text occasionally, but not in the same volume as before.
Is she telling the truth? I think so. She has been actively looking for a new place to rent to move her and her kids out so that it will be her place.
Is she pulling away? Yes. Whether it's because of what's going on in her life, me, or a combination of that, it's happening and it's taken some wrestling to learn that about women (and a lot of google searching about behavior).
Right now I'm feeling pretty good. I haven't texted her or checked my phone obsessively, although I'm pretty upset with my beta behavior the last couple of weeks. I realized that I had gotten away from the behavior of what made her think I was so great, and turned into a sappy sumbitch that was probably not attractive to her. I wasn't even an "asshole" before. I was just being me: silly, sometimes hilarious, a bit nerdy.
Does it suck? Yes. Will this be done? Maybe, maybe not, I can't really tell. Yes, I wish I had gone through something like this in college when I was a bit younger to learn then, but whatever, it's happening now. But I'll be damned if I'm reduced to a quivering mess because a girl I like is ignoring me because I'm not the most important thing in her life, which is where I almost got into trouble in the first place.
EDIT: Fuck forgot to mention why working in TV is important. In the few short years I've been in this industry I have been bred to answer quickly to everything: phone calls, texts, emails, because everyone wants everything yesterday or last week. This, unfortunately, bled into my personal life and it really shouldn't have, which may have escalated the above situation....
