To me it seems as if Tesla was a typical nice-guy. Edison was an asshole. My great aunt could attest to that.

As a person fluent in sarcasm, the concept of amused mastery wasn't difficult to grasp. And as a brother to two older siblings I'm well practiced at teasing. It's amazing to see how well it works if you're not actively trying to do something. Without the end game, like what you're talking about. The importance is using it to your advantage. Just being me as gotten me past this step--I'm so cynical and sarcastic that I can't NOT poke fun at a girl for something, especially when I'm interested. Th…

I would really love to see more of the posting history of the commenters who are supporting his mother's POV. Fortunately, that iron ain't lifting itself, and that money ain't making itself so I don't have the time. I was in a similar boat as this poor dude, maybe the same as some of you are: nice and chivalrous win the day, though that day is probably next week. This is why I've never accepted my mom's insistence on setting me up. Every one of the girls she has tried to bring to me has been lik…

Actually this is why I love season 3. All the shit is coming apart at the seams because Frank is starting to act like a little bitch when he's not in a public space.

I get a lot of crap for this, all the time. It doesn't really matter how big or small the girls are--if they have abs or nice delts or that x-frame or arms that have definition "she's pretty manly", despite the fact that she may actually be a peanut IRL. Meanwhile the people telling me this are actively living on 1500-1700cal/day diets on purpose because they want to be skinny. No judgement on them but I don't give them shit for that. It's my preferred lifestyle and I want to be around people th…

I wish I had discovered this earlier in my life. I was so concerned with what people thought of me in middle school and high school that it could be paralyzing at times. It was such a big issue that when I went to collage I tried to create a persona of myself that didn't exist, and it backfired. It actually IS important to worry about what people think, but only in a way like OP mentioned. I want people at work to think I am good at my job and professional, so I work at being better at my job an…

I think the problem was that you saw a "her" for your problems. Like someone else posted yesterday, never go to a woman for women problems. They don't know how to help you, despite the fact that her very job is to try and 1) diagnose what's going on 2) probably keep you coming back. She was essentially a mind hooker. And, if she wasn't intending on bringing you back, I'm willing to bet that the mentioned support group was run by a woman.

Ironically, I got to be in the position of the girl. Long story short, my junior year of college I got booted from facebook. When I eventually got back on i didn't bother re-adding people from my earlier years that I didn't talk to. My last semester I needed to borrow a textbook for class and I knew a girl there, who happened to live on my floor freshman year. I only realized between classes that I actually needed the book so I sent her a facebook message. I then got a ranty message back about "…

This. My former boss, an overweight white woman, was basically cleaning house in her department while I was working for her. There was a manager position open and she had seen a few people, including a girl she really liked, but ultimately put her on the backburner because she lacked some of the experience that was wanted. Two weeks later she was publicly chewing out two of her direct reports because they had basically refused to see another girl that, based on my boss's criteria, wasn't qualifi…

Black baptist church until I went to college. Then more diverse in college. There were some really hot girls in school because a few girls decided to bring receptive girls from their sororities. However, our sister sorority only had one really good looking girl every like 3 years. But at church I see good looking couples all the time. Like objectively 8/10 or better girls. I'm not sure why this is.

Most of those are college programs--I was in one briefly but eventually left (I was in a Christian fraternity as well so my time was occupied elsewhere) but in my experience it was an extension of Greek life. 75% of the Campus Crusade goers were Greek or about to go Greek soon and the girls still had that 80% don't matter mindset. It doesn't change there either.

The nice thing about Los Angeles is that there are a lot of young churches here. I've been going to one for years though I haven't really made any connections in it--it's large enough on Sundays that I just kind of want to go home after a 2.5 hour service, especially after a workout or a late Saturday. My other option for connecting is joining a community group, the deterrent here being another 2.5 hour meeting on a weeknight that should be much shorter and has a much higher chance of being fill…

As soon as I was able I got the heck out of dodge. Not that home was bad, I just wanted to be elsewhere for once. Moved to California and haven't looked back. Many of the people I grew up with still live in town, if not most of them. Few live outside the state at all.

I am terrified of death, and frequently have late-night existentialist moments where I try to come to grips with a time where I won't exist, thinking about things like what that feels like, how will it (or won't it) affect others, etc. I think the most important thing is that I realize that I won't be able to do anything. So that means while I still exist, while I still am, i have to do stuff, and not be worried about it.

I can confirm. People notice changes in my behavior when I've been out of the gym for a while, even if they don't know that's the reason. It's especially difficult when I'm frustrated at work and can't release that in the gym. But it's so nice to get a lift in before work or even a short one at lunch to get me going

I don't think it's illegal so much as it was frowned upon. I knew all the kids in my neighborhood from school (I moved in a few weeks before school started and didn't really start figuring that out until later since my parents were still feeling out the neighborhood) and as long as they knew where I was I was free to ride my bike there (on the sidewalk and later the street). I never had an escort unless I was driven there from somewhere else. I carpooled with a girl around the corner most days b…

I'm a terrible conversationalist. But I'm observant enough to know when a woman I'm talking to is interested, or whether or not I'm wasting my time (whichever comes first). I'm definitely cut from the same mold as you--however, I've gotten a bit better at open ended questions, directing the conversation so that they're doing most of the talking with as little input from me as possible. But I'm also trying to put myself in situations where I can actually do these things, or being in places where …

When I was a kid I played music a lot. I spent a lot of time indoors as a result, and alone. I'm not totally sure if I'm a natural introvert or one that was developed. Don't get me wrong, I was really good at music and REALLY bad at sports. But I enjoyed my outside time as well, and benefited from it. I would say that I was probably at the front end of the last part of kids to grow up without all of the unnecessary restrictions on them that are currently out there--tag with running, running base…

We once had a male student teacher, ex military. Lol all I can remember is this one time he went around passing out graded test and everyone got their own, verbal, audible to everyone else evaluation. "Timmy, you could have done better. I hated group projects in middle school--because of the gender percentage there were almost always more girls than boys in a class and when we did group projects, certain boys were separated from each other to prevent shenanigans. I was really shy and kind of awkward back then and ended up in a group with four girls who IMMEDIATELY started talking about who should do what and when and doled out the responsibilities. They let me do the brochure for our mock travel advertisement for world day or s…

My mom used to experience this shit a lot in med school. Here are two instances: There was a certain class that was fairly difficult but for years there had been a cheat-guide to help people get through the tons of material. It was usually passed down via hierarchy but tended to circulate pretty well, she said. By the time she would have actually needed it, she had done all the work, but was one of a few students that was never offered the guide, and when she asked about it, they laughed her off…

Sure. Now we have a lot of "things" that make a man "viable" for mating, which can be difficult for a lot of people and also difficult because of the burden it creates. As discussed other places in this sub there are things you can do to be more successful and things you can learn. Hopefully if you had a decent father or father figure you learned many things or can still learn to navigate the waters

And while that's true everyone bitches and moans that "tv programming is getting lower ratings every year" and "this and such movie did poorly in 1992 so if we try something like that NOW it'll totally bomb". To be sure, you have to be alpha to have any modicum of success in Hollywood. I found this out the hard way. But as a whole they will kill the industry if they don't branch out and find new shit to do. It would be alpha to try and let a show mature after a season and a half instead of pulli…

I used to do the third example all the time in school. I'd talk about it with one of my roommates after and he'd be like "why would you unadd her on facebook and delete her number?" well, if she has no intention of talking to me or being interested in me, then why continue on. I approached her because I was interested and if she's not I'm not and I have no intention of talking. She didn't bring this up earlier in her career because she didn't have value to Hollywood until after her run in MEDIUM (2005-2011) where she played a mom. She was already past her mid 30s when that show started. Her value as an actress is tied up in typecasting at this point. I haven't seen CSI: Cyber yet but I imagine her role is similar, just with less kids. Case in point: Tom Cruise just did Oblivion. And Live Die Repeat. The man is still viable for action movies. As is Bruce Willis. Where i…

TRP is more about understanding who we should be as men. However, tied with that, is understanding how women think/act and why it is that way. Don't misunderstand--we aren't trying to reach an understanding of the female psyche because of feels. We should need to understand because that is the way it is, and once you realize and look back on your experiences, how much of it is actually true. We are here to better ourselves, in the quest of attaining the mostly lost art of manliness. For many of …

It's amazing what a bit of confidence to do with you. I've opined elsewhere on here about my recent situation, and during those times I never had more confidence (in that area). Prior to that I had made an effort to dress cleaner for work, dropped 17ish pounds (at the time, I've since regained some of that in muscle) after a dreamer bulk, and with this going on I felt great. I felt confident. Therefore, my body language changed. And girls started talking to me. In elevators. In line for lunch. A…

in my experience, and what I think she's referring to, is the type of statement that you'll sweep under the rug because it seems preposterous given what you know. People will try to win you over whichever way they can and then occasionally they'll let slip something truthful, which may be bad or good, that you'll probably subconsciously sweep under the rug.

Look at it this way: If you could have any woman you wanted to bear your offspring....would you want a HBB 10/10 with genetics to mingle with yours for potential 10/10 future adults or a 6/10 where you're not sure if your kids might hit the genetic lottery or not.

I've always had great skin, and even when I was going through puberty I stayed pretty clear. I didn't use anything more than the wiping pads that are OTC, and keeping my skin moisturized as it can get very dry. For me, getting rid of my acne was as much a conscious effort as is asking out a woman. The source of most of my acne was stress in my environment. Was school hard? Was I not doing well in music? I did my first cold approaches a couple of years ago--neither of them worked out (one girl was at a gym and she was a probably an 8/10 with a 10/10 body but her dad was a crazy ex-Raiders linebacker, and the other was some random friend of a friend of a friend I asked out at a football game). I just hate hyphenated names in general. Especially when parents name their kids PEGGY-SUE and INSIST that we call them PEGGY-SUE and not Peggy. This really grinds my gears. You bring up an excellent point. A lot of this sub and the materials associated with it point to "action" as something we should be taking, as men. It makes sense, then, that without action (in this case, being involved in something with other people) you won't be connected to them. I refer to them as friends via proximity. I don't make the kind of money for even an apartment like that. currently my situation is in a duplex with a room to myself. i'm not even here that much and i'm playing ~500 for rent so my room is for me only. i need to look around for something closer to my office/gym that's affordable, though i do like having at least one person around to talk to and bounce thoughts off of. though in my current situation he's barely around anyway so i spend most of my time a…

i caught the feels pretty bad this time. fortunately i'm pretty well practiced at cutting things off at the root--this one might take a little longer but i'll get at it, especially as we talk less. thanks for the encouragement :)

This helps definitely, as has this whole sub. Long story long, I met a girl on the internet, a MILF really, 26, two kids, separated and in the process of divorce. Lots of interest early on, enough so that I suggested we meet while she was conveniently in my area for one weekend. Though her plans fell through she ended up coming to visit me for the whole weekend anyway, instead of just a few hours. We met, she took my virginity, we had some great moments. Continued to text and skype through the t…
