I learned something this week. Something I struggled with a lot and still do.
That swelling anxiety in your gut is a bitch. You stop focusing on your goals and instead ruminate on the source of your anxiety. It sucks. I couldn't focus on work because I didn't know how to handle the situation causing me anxiety. It kept bothering me because I had no plan for action.
I'm not certain, and only have anecdotal evidence, but I believe that your fight or flight response stays stuck. You generally don't know what to do and are stuck in an endless loop.
while(true) { if(fight) break; else if(freight) break; }
This will keep you from focusing on other tasks, other goals and leave you less of a human.
But, as soon as you choose something and stick to it, you're out of this anxiety loop and have your focus back.
Today, I decided to fight. Almost immediately this enormous weight has been lifted off my shoulders. It feels incredible. My focus is back. The internal fear my mind made up never happened.
So if any of you struggle with anxiety, try this technique and just see if you feel better.
