I know a guy that adopted his GIRLFRIEND'S kid. They broke up less than a year later and now he's stuck raising and paying for the kid. In that context I'm against adoption but that's unusual for adoption, usually it's because one partner is infertile and in that case I think it's fine to adopt.

I was adopted when I was a few days old, as were both of my siblings (all from different parents). My parents can't have children naturally. I don't even think about it. I've never been concerned with my birth parents other than some thoughts about genetic issues, but as long as I live healthy, eat right, work out and stay away from bad shit, if it's in the cards it's in the cards.

I am strongly considering getting a vasectomy in the not to distant future. And I will not be telling any LTRs about it. I will still insist they be on birth control or use condoms if they're a plate. And if they pull the "oops, you got me pregnant...but isn't that great??" trick, I will simply hard Next them. If it ever comes to the point where I want to have children with a serious LTR (as in if I've been with the same girl for 5+ years and have no inclination she's cheated) then I will just adopt a newborn like I was.

Personally I don't like kids, have no intention of having them ever. But if somehow that changes (I'm 31 now so I don't think it will) then adoption is a great choice. Only if it's a real adoption though. I will not adopt some chicks crotchfruit from another man. Ever. And having a vasectomy + not getting married (or putting marriage off the table until I've been with her for the 5+ years*) is a great way to ensure that I don't end up paying the bills for some sluts dalliances.

So to me 2 people making the honest decision to adopt = fine Man adopting the spawn of cheating = Never Man adopting the spawn of a girls previous relationship = Also never.

*At this point I am firmly in the "never get married" mindset. Having narrowly avoided a disaster with a former fiance' cheating on me, I don't put much faith in the faithfulness of women. And I don't think I ever will. But I'm intellectually honest enough to say that "Never" is a bold statement.

I'm adopted, and it has nothing to do with game.

[–]tyranus891 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There's more to TRP than just game. TRP is very anti-cuckolding; that is, it's wrong to raise a child that your wife has with another man since you're spending resources prolonging genetics that aren't yours.

It seems like OP is extrapolating this idea to adoption -- where the child is not the offspring of you, nor your partner.

I would adopt, I come from Romania and was on the starving track as an infant, I am in the US now with opportunities and if given the opportunity to allow another person a chance at life I would take it. However I would never raise a child that came from her vagina but not my balls.

Don't adopt your LTR or wife's kids.
After your divorce, you will be paying child support.
And divorce could start the week after you adopt, if she's a conniving bitch.

I know a cool dude who couldn't knock up his wife. Turned out his swimmers dont work, or aren't there, no possibility.

At the moment they are trying artificial insemination on his wife, with a sperm donor they found through the available channels.

From a RP perspective I think this is preferable to adoption, though they are not your genes, there is a lot less variables you are dealing with. With adoption you have much less perspective on the genetic probabilities.

Raising a good man/woman is a huge responsibility, a major burden, mostly difficult, but rewarding. I don't think there is anything beta about said gentlemans path.

It's a pretty beta thing to do; you are raising another mans child

[–]reedrichardsstretch 11 points11 points11 points 11 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I get what you're saying, but adoption is a conscious choice based on circumstances. If a couple wants to raise a child but can't have one biologically for various reasons that are unchangeable, then adoption is a fine option. Nothing inherently alpha or beta about it.

"Raising another mans child" is alpha or beta depending on context.

[–]tyranus891 point2 points3 points 11 years ago [recovered] (0 children) | Copy Link

Agreed. We're no longer cavemen. There's nothing inherently wrong with raising another man's child.

For all you know, two people could have gotten drunk, hooked up and then she dumped the baby at an adoption agency. For the 5th time.

While the man and wife are out there populating the world with more children you are stuck at home cleaning up his little kids dirty diapers.

If the biological parents are not in the picture and a child has no family adoption is fine, it's why I even have a computer now to type this.
