Females in science/math fields?

this is crazy. i'm going to art school for photography and hope to go into photojournalism after.

if a girl was all like "wow you're so unconventional and different from most guys, going to art school, not studying a more masculine and guy subject like math or engineering."

i'd be really annoyed.

No. I don't agree that women are inherently less intelligent than men. However they are on average less likely to fulfil their intellectual potential if they feel they can coast through life on looks. They are generally not as good at problem solving, but its a generalization and doesn't really mean anything for any one girl.

I was wondering if it's something to be concerned about if she isn't interested in generally feminine things like keeping up her appearance with nice clothing, keeping her apartment nice looking and stuff like that.

Most men prefer a feminine girl but it depends if you care about that or not I guess. Unless she's a feminist ("soft feminists" can be okay when they just want equal rights and don't care much beyond that).

Her field of study isn't the arts? This is a good thing. Is she feminine? Does she want you to check your privelege? How does she treat her father? These are things you should be looking at if you're thinking about seeing her long term I guess. You already know what you're going to do, no one here can dissuade you.

What she studies makes no difference really. As long as it isn't women's studies or something with no economic value.

Be the captain and let her be the first mate. Thats how actual relationships happen. Also, don't get married don't have kids dont cohabitate. There, I said it!

i study maths at a really high rated uni in europe so... heres my experience.

first: we had like 40-50% females in the start. dropped down to 30% later on. women fucking suck in maths. the reason why most of them are still passing, is because they work their ass of. they do not really understand what they are doing, but they can very well learn definitions, theorems, and proofs for theorems by heart.

there are basically 2 types of questions in maths: one is to repeat known results (i.e. cite different definitions, theorems, or apply them in a straightforward way), the other is to conjecture stuff (and then, prove them). girls do fine in the first part, but fail miserably in the latter. this is why 0 females have won the fields medal.

of course you can always find gifted individual females, who excel. but they are the exception to the rule that females simply suck at maths - even when they have a degree.

moreover: the reason why women are doing good in academics (at a graduate level) is because you can pass it by studying very hard. however, women fail at postdoc level, as they as a gender do not have the ability to connect the dots/are not intelligent enough (heres where the variance of the iq distribution of gender comes into play).

I did advanced university math for about 3 weeks until I realized that the class was way over my head.

75% of the students were males the other 25% might as well have been.

If a girl is masculine enough to do high end math she's probably masculine enough to sleep around and never do the dishes. Avoid!
