Protips:

1) An "average guy" 20 year old has about the lowest SMV of any adult man in the jungle out there. Barely out of puberty, not old enough to have attempted much let alone accomplished it, not even old enough to buy a case of Milwaukee's Best. The only girls who are likely to want to fuck you are 16 and 17-year olds; depending on the laws of your municipality this may not be an option. Therefore:

2) Wait it out, but game it up. I had a horrible batting average when I was 20. But I was still bold and reckless, making approaches on the street and to girls in my extended social circle. I probably got shot down 99 out of 100 times, but I kept going because I was young, dumb, and full of cum. (I'm in my 30s now and currently seeing five different women.) Approaching women and talking to them is good practice and builds up a thicker skin on that little ol' heart of yours. Therefore:

3) Do things to build up your SMV so that when you age "into your prime" (late 20s and all 30s) you will actually have something of high value to offer. Get some hobbies, take risks. Get in a fight. Lose. Travel somewhere more than 24 hours from home with no money and talk your way into sleeping on someone's sofa. Make a mad plan of something you want to build, see it through even if it fails and makes a fool of yourself. Right now you have low SMV because you're just another boy who has spent your life in a classroom and did what he was told. Change that. It'll take years. Finally:

4) CUT THE SELF-PITYING BULLSHIT. "Forever alone"? You sound like a fucking girl. There's only room for one girl in a heterosexual relationship, do you want to compete with another girl for that spot? And seriously who "attempts suicide 3 times"? Girls do. When men want to die they stick a gun in their mouths or jump off a bridge. Girls do suicide attempts to get attention. So, real talk:

5) You are amongst men here. We don't feel any natural pity or sympathy for you, and neither does anybody else besides your mother. You are a MAN, you have to become USEFUL and RELIABLE to be of value to this society. This isn't something you fix overnight. But if you walk into my house with your shoes scraping on the floor and eyes looking down at 'em, I'll know you're not even trying and ask you to leave.

Source: am a man in his 30s. Wish somebody had told me these things at your age.

your self-worth cannot be determined by how popular you are. you have to be internally validated. Popular people are popular because they have a high self-worth. Another term for that is confidence. You have no confidence. You are pathetic, and you keep saying you are. so how can you expect people to treat you like youre worthy of their time, when youre worth nothing to yourself?

part of being a man is learning how to take responsibility for your life. when i asked you what is stopping you, you said everyone when you should've said yourself.

read The War of Art by Steven Pressfield. read As a Man Thinketh by James Allen. read Meditations by Marcus Aurelius...etc etc the list goes on, there is so much out there that can help you, there is so much in TRP that can help you, but at the end of the day man, YOU need to help yourself. and i dont mean go out and desperately chase friendships and relationships...I mean you need to go out and become who you want to be and pursue passions that you deem worthy, for nobody else but yourself.

the world is yours

This is something I just realized. All my life I've been making choices which would create the better story so people would put value in me. As I'm passing my mid-20s, I am realizing that my accomplishments mean nothing to anybody but myself anymore. I was an entertainer, but now I have no audience and need to make the choices that have the best outcome for who I want to be.

[–]gwizmcpyro1 point 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

You've gotta bring more to the table than just that. "Being nice" is pretty much something anybody is expected to do.

[–]theugly11 point 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Go and read this article - 6 Harsh Truths That Will Make You a Better Person

Quoting from the article:

I want you to try something: Name five impressive things about yourself. Write them down or just shout them out loud to the room. But here's the catch -- you're not allowed to list anything you are (i.e., I'm a nice guy, I'm honest), but instead can only list things that you do (i.e., I just won a national chess tournament, I make the best chili in Massachusetts).

[–][deleted]1 point 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

How can you expect others to love you if you refuse to love yourself? It's a simple phrase, "Love Thyself", but it's true. This sub praises the concept of "fake it 'til you make it" for newcomers, but if you have no hope or direction you can't even fake it.

Listen to these people. Follow their directions and utilize their guidance. Pull yourself out of your shell. And really focus on improving your self-image rather than your image in the public eye. If you read more into the RP life, you'll see a lot of talk about how you need to really delve into yourself and really put an effort into improving your life. The rest (fame, fortune, women, etc.) will begin to flow naturally. It's all very true, and there are literally thousands of people on this very site with first-hand experience with how very, very true it is.

Your unicorn ? Lol. Why the hell does every desperate loser think that there's a unicorn out there waiting for him? You don't hear anyone here with any experience talking about finding a unicorn...so if WE arent holding out hope for that, then why the hell are you?

I know what you're thinking. You're thinking "I'm smart and unique, and if I can just find the right girl she will appreciate me for being sweet and sensitive".

Not gonna happen my man. You've let movies and romantic novels, and mainstream reddit shape your views on women and what they want, which is bullshit.

Girls do not like sensitive desperate losers.

The most important thing to do is find a group of men to be friends with, guys who have higher SMV than you and are willing to mentor you. It isn't easy though since you don't bring much to the table. If you are good at a sport, you can try to join a league.

[–]Endorsed Contributormonsieurhire22 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Here, let me help you.

You know how you were brainwashed with egalitarian "we're all equal, men and women are equal" propaganda?

Well, it was all a bunch of horse-shit.

You see, the sexual market value (SMV), and therefore social value of a girl begins to skyrocket as soon as she sprouts boobs and sports curves. She is suddenly deluged from male attention from all directions. As a young man, you are basically competing with older guys with money, poise, power, status, etc. Even if the girl is only a 5 or a 6, her youth means she'll get hit on by older betas looking to be her provider.

Now, for you as a male, your SMV is tied to money, status power, etc. It is VERY hard for a young, inexperienced male to have ANY of that because all they're offered, for the most part, is COUNTERFEIT status, like being on the football team, going to college. Why is this status counterfeit? Because it comes with NO ACTUAL POWERS. You can't, as captain of the football team, whisk your girlfriend off to Paris and spend lots of money buying her shit she was brainwashed into wanting, but doesn't actually need. Girls figured this out very quickly. The only thing a young man, unless he is independently wealthy via a trust-fund, has to offer a woman that is a tangible benefit is his looks and his body and the status that are associated with it.

This means that if a young man wants a woman, especially a young woman, he must either be very good-lucking and moderately aggressive, or very aggressive and completely (inhumanly) impervious to rejection.

Now, the first thing to realize is that NONE OF THIS IS YOUR FAULT. It is simply the situation you were born into. You didn't choose this. You were basically born into indentured servitude and lied to every step of the way to keep you there under the guise of "educating" you. The point being, that when you get older and figure things out, you can then poach younger women from younger men and repeat the cycle. I suspect that this social construction has to do with putting a brake on population growth. The powers that be want population growth, but not too much too soon.

So basically, the system is skewed to place an inordinate amount of value on a woman who can bear children, and no value on a young man, who is after all, in the long view, expendable as cannon or saltmine fodder, whereas the woman and her fertility are more limited commodity. (Think about it, most men have a biological drive to reproduce, an they make up a little less than half of the population, but what percentage of the 50+% women are actually fertile? This is why young, attractive women are treated like rock-stars and celebrities.)

Now that you understand that it isnt' your fault, you can stop feeling bad about yourself, and starting working on yourself. Don't set an unreasonable goal, like getting laid in a week or a month or something. Sure, it's possible, but it might be with a disgusting skank. Instead, resolve to work on yourself and relentlessly self-improve in all directions.

[–]Clauderoughly1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Ok, what aren't you telling us ? (and yourself?)

It could be you are at a really shit college that is the antithesis of what you are looking for. I had the same experience in University. I was really very lonely because no one shared any sort of interests that I did.

My suggestion is to look for friends outside of the college environment. You said you had an interest in flying, then maybe look for a local meetup group on www.meetup.com and get among people who share the same interests that you do.

It could be that you are coming off as overly needy, which can scare the shit out of people you just meet. It's a really vicious catch 22, because you need the social interaction to learn the skills you need to be less awkward and needy.

I would suggest meetup, and developing a good peer group of male friends, maybe even slightly older guys who can help you.

What was your childhood like ? two parent home ? Single mom ?

Give us some more background so we can help you a bit more. Sadly the TRP isn't some magic oracle who can give you magical answers, but we can work with you if you give us enough info.

[–]Clauderoughly0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Ok, so you have bad social skills learned from family life, and you went to a university much like I did.

Ok, for someone like you clubs are an awful place to meet women. I too hate night clubs. They are loud, awful, smelly places with low quality women.

Ok, so tell me what your ideal friend would behave like ?

What are you looking for in a friendship?

Again, I would give up on the usual college way of meeting people, and see what you can do about meeting people outside of school. By the sounds of it, the Female/Male ratios are going to fuck you over anyway.

So, my suggestions are;

  1. Browse meeetup.com and find local groups with people who have similar interests to you.
  2. Give up on nightclubs and meet people in otherways.
  3. Focus on just getting a good, healthy circle of friends. This will take time.

Also, importantly, are you an introvert or extrovert ?

Where do you rate yourself if

  • 0 Complete introvert

  • 5 not really either

  • 10 Complete extrovert

It's ok if you don't know, we can help you figure it out.

If you an introvert, you just need to take a different approach to meeting people is all. A lot of the RP stuff is tailored for extroverts, so don't feel stupid if it doesn't work for you.

Most of the western world is tailored to extroverts.

[–]Clauderoughly0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I met a bunch of 20 somethings via meetup.com

It seems to be all ages, so I would at least give it a shot. I have no problem hanging out with older and younger people. You want the quality of people, rather than age.

Ok, introvert doesn't mean "shy" That is a common misconception.

So, you have have had an amazingly stressful week. To unwind, would you rather;

Go to massively packed concert/rave/event with a bunch of strange people, to see a band you like.

OR

Curl up with a good book / hobby / be on your own.

There is no right answer to this, I am just trying to get a better idea of your personality.

[–]Clauderoughly0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ok, you are definitely in the middle then.

Yeah, have a kick around meetup then, and find a group you like.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Looking at your post history, this is about the sixth time you've asked a question like this. Assuming you're sincere about wanting to improve, it would be fair to ask you to summarize what you've learned from the answers to those questions, what actions you've taken, what worked/didn't work for you.

You feel like you're stuck in the mud spinning your wheels. You're not making connections, you're lonely in a crowd of people having a great time, you're depressed. Asking these questions again and again is also part of spinning your wheels. At some level, you know you're not going to get a magical piece of advice that will diagnose and cure your ill. Judging by past performance, you'll be back in a fortnight asking the same question.

The thing you should be more worried about is in your "I am pathetic" post from a month ago, where you say you're failing classes. If you think your life is bad now, it'll be worse for you in five years time if you're underemployed or unemployed with a poor academic record. Treat college like an uncongenial workplace, where you don't get on too well with your colleagues, but you have to get the job done so you can move to better things. Set your alarm, drag yourself in, do the work on time, and try not to beat yourself up or compare your life with that of your classmates.

[deleted]

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I know it's easier said than done. I can't give you any reliable techniques but I'll offer you some perspective.

It's particularly difficult in college because you're comparing yourself with people of exactly the same age, social background, and talent as yourself, so you feel like there's less excuse for failure. Also you've probably internalized a lot of marketing about how student life isn't just about studying and getting a piece of paper, it's about having memorable experiences, making friends for life, and falling in love. That's quite a promise for an institution to make. It works for some people, it doesn't work for other people.

Once you start work, your colleagues will be more mixed in their age and social background. You'll have some awareness of their personal lives - happily or unhappily single, happily or unhappily married. But they'll mostly leave their personal lives at home, and you won't feel like it's getting rubbed in your face during working hours. In college, it's not unusual that the cubicle next to you in the library contains a romantic couple having discussions about non-academic matters. Good for them - they're young, in love, and living the full student experience - but if you're lonely it can make you feel miserable. That's not going to happen in the workplace.

[–]key4020 points1 point2 points 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I'll try to throw a little advice your way since I was in the same situation as you. I majored in electrical engineering (also did some programming) in college and was admittedly a virgin until age 22. I read that you are also in a similar field of study, so your observation that - "half of these people have had sex in the last week" is hilariously inaccurate, and I think you probably know that.

The poster above me "9051" mentioned a really good point, and that is that you need to be focusing on school and your career right now. As enjoyable as sticking your penis in women is, it shouldn't be distracting you from the more important aspect of your current situation. I never actually did all that well in school, because I was constantly distracted by video games, but I did have a logical brain and a good amount of common sense, so I scored a high paying internship my sophomore year after doing some interviews. By the time I graduated, my grades still sucked, but I had multiple job offers and I was suddenly making 3-4x as much money as my other friends who were still working at Starbucks.

I'm trying to encourage you to focus on your career, because god does it feel good, when you go from being broke to pulling in a nice salary. Your career is something that will literally impact you for the rest of your life, and determine the types of cars you drive, your homes, your vacations, the quality of women you can attract, etc.

Money definitely isn't everything, but I'm giving you the best advice I can right now. Do not let women distract you from the years of life that determine the next 60+ years you will be living. For right now, just practice trying to be more social, work out, develop more interests, and by the time you graduate I promise you will see your life start to turn around.

I'll admit that young guys can pull off the jobless alpha look in their 20's and still attract women (like you are probably seeing). Take it from me though, that shit becomes RIDICULOUSLY unattractive to women (and society) around age 30, and you never want to be in that position.

[–]FortunateBum1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

God's sake, you're only 20. MGTOW.

[–]jobs33ker1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

After taking a cursory glance at your posting history, its obvious you're out for sympathy. You will not find it here. What's more, you need to seek out your own answers. I get the impression that you're constantly posting looking for input when you've done non of the work yourself. Do you really expect people to just tell you the magic words that will suddenly make a man out of you? First of all unsubscribe from all those stupid self pity circle jerk subs like depression and forever alone. And stop browsing mainstream subs. They are like poison for any man with any kind of self actualization.

I understand depression I also have suffered from it. It runs in my family. So I know how you feel. But you've got to meet us halfway. You seem to me like one of those over analytical types. that's exactly how I was when I was in my teens. There is nothing worse than that. I used to look at my peers who are half is intelligent, but had way more confidence and success with women than me. It wasn't until I learned how to harness my own attributes and make them work FOR me rather than against, that I was able to succeed. When it comes to any type of social interaction, as others have already stated, you have to bring something to the table for others to want to be around you. You can't just look around with your eyes all big and wondering why nobody Wants to hang with you just because you're "funny and nice ". Those two things are what every loser says about themselves, thinking anyone gives a fuck. They don't. You're boring. You've got to learn to take risks and go out on a limb. Also it seems to me that you are desperate for the approval of otherS. People sense this from a mile away, and they want nothing to do with you, and why should they? Anyone who is actually trying to make friends will not make friends. People who actually do make friends do so by displaying value. If you have nothing going for you then why would anyone want to be around you?

Try to think of it like this, when you are riding a bike, or driving a car, you just do it without thinking. The more action you take, the less you will think about those actions..now being analytical isn't a bad thing. It's only a bad thing when it works against you. I've had to analyze my game several times, and there's nothing wrong with doing that as long as its not affecting your confidence. I suggest you just get out there and do rather than sit around and think. The rest will take care of itself

Do you lift? I started cause I wanted to look sexy, and it changed the way I existed. My mind is steady, my demeanor calm. I used to be an anxious depressed little fuck. I'm now the king of myself and the boss at work.

I've only been lifting a year. Up 20lbs in weight, down to 12% bf. The results come quicker than you'd expect. My mind flipped ~ the 6 month mark.

Start with seduction until you build an abundance mentality, then come here. I promise you, it'll be a lot psychologically easier.

Hey man, I was much the same way you were when I was younger (i'm 21 now). When I was in high school, elementary school I had no friends, kids would try to beat me up, etc. I would observe the "cool kids" and watch how they acted and imitated them. That is how I learned about the existence of "cocky funny" before I heard about David DeAngelo. Obviously, since my reputation was established I was not able to change much in high school. But things changed singnificantly when I went to College because I implemented everything I've learned over the years.

My advice to you: Watch how the high SMV guys act/get others to go out. Adopt their mannerisms. Watch what works what doesn't. Keep what works, discard the rest. Don't focus on getting laid, focus on making new dude friends. Start kickboxing/mma, it gives you a death stare so that many guys will be your friend because they are intimidated. Don't be a people pleaser -- don't want to do something say no, you don't want to. Talk to girls, implement what you saw the high SMV guys do. Before bed take 10 min and reflect on your interactions with people and see what you did right and what you could have done better. Do not show weakness in front of other people. This process may take 1-2 years maybe longer. So don't get discouraged if you are not seeing results in a year, you are learning. One day once you learn enough and integrate enough of it, you'll experience an epiphany. In the meantime, soldier on.

Throw parties. Few people will come initially, but make it so amazing that word spreads. Do daygame and get girls and give them to other dudes, help them get laid, etc, etc. Become indespensible. By helping a dude get laid at a party or club, he will invite you to other parties and help you get laid too.

Therapy won't help you. If you do what I said, it will.
