I am posting this because I want some feedback on how I handled this situation and so that if I am ever in this situation again, I know how to handle this, or if I run into the girl, I know how to act.

So, two semesters ago, I was in class with this really attractive girl, which we'll call Sara — I can honestly say she is definitely in the top 15 percentile of the most attractive girls on campus at my university. I talked to her a few times in class and before class, and we were assigned as partners for a group project together. I would tease her, and she'd respond positively, and I thought she was interested or at least open for business because she's the type of girl with tattoos, piercings, and always wears some type of heeled shoes.

However, I never escalated because I figure she would not be interested in me because I'm younger and shorter than she — She's 23 or 24 and about 5'11 and I'm 5'9 and 19. So, I just disqualified myself and never escalated, and moved on.

One day though, she sort of gave me an open invite to her apartment though. She started telling me that she lived alone, and then went on to tell me how she likes to cook there, and asked if I like to cook. The way she said it implied that she was inviting me to her place. I honestly didn't escalate because I was still a blue pill beta, and thought she'd not be interested in me because I wasn't even that attractive.

I did however ended up Facebook closing her (Yes, I know — NEVER, NEVER, NEVER do that). The day of the final, she was one of the first to finish, but she waited outside of the room. I don't know if she was waiting for me or maybe the professor, but when I went out, she came up to me and hugged me and wished me good luck on the final, and then the professor came out and told us to be quiet because there were people there still testing. Because I had to get to my next final and the professor was there, I just asked her if I could add her on Facebook and I pulled out my phone, and handed it to her.

Later that night, I sent her a message asking her out. She told me that she wasn't seeing anyone (which I'm sure if a lie) and she told me that we should just be friends. I told her that I didn't have time for new friends, but I wished her the best.

As fate would have it though, we ended up in another class together the next semester. Because I always showed up early to class, I had talked to everyone in the class at least a few times, and I had a lot of social proof. One of girls in the class actually gave me huge social proof, too. As it turns out, I had dated one of her friends, and had gone on a few dates with another one of her friends, and because were both from the same city I knew a lot of people from her high school because I had partied with them in high school. Sara would also see me talking to other hot girls on my way to class too. And, another girl in the class had the hots for me and she would always try to talk to me and impress me. So, to ruffle Sara's feathers, I once used a cheesy pickup line on girl2, and Sara heard me and she just turned to me and stared at me and looked a bit pissed/deceived.

Because it was a small classroom, and I was really good at the class material, the professor would always call me out, or ask me to explain some of the stuff because I was really good at it, so that probably gave me more social proof?

When I saw her in class or on campus, I would just smile and say, "hi" and pretend like nothing happened. I did like her, but I wasn't really bother that she rejected me because I figured she would in the first place.

Whenever she saw me, she'd wave and smile and say hi. In class though, just about EVERY TIME I'd talk in class, she'd respond or have a question to what I'd say. She'd also always complement my skills in that class or start small talk with me. Somedays, she'd respond to me with what seemed a bit of hate in her tone, but I never really cared. When we were alone, she'd look at me and ask me about my weekend and shit, and tease me a bit, but I'd usually not ask her anything and talk to her minimally because I was a bit embarrassed. And the conversations would fizzle down.

One day, when we were both in the library, I apologized for what I said to her on Facebook because I genuinely felt bad for that and being a bit of a dick, especially because she would mostly always be nice to me. I then said, "I still want to be your friend though" and she responded: "Why don't we just talk about something else" and I said sure and transitioned to talking about the class.

I never asked her out again because I already had, and she said no. Also, I was never sure if she was interested or just nice to me because she felt for bad rejecting me or was just being nice. So, I'm curious as to whether she was ever interested in me, and in a situation like this what are you supposed to do?
