Unfortunately it's not uncommon. The higher up in the tax bracket you get, the less and less they even bother to hide it. I've been out with a few that seemed to be little different than negotiating a price with a hooker, just way more expensive.

First time poster on this sub so forgive any mistakes I may make, but this really resonated with me.

I live in one of the most expensive cities in Australia, and the girls here are flat out gold diggers. This is partly due to the strong mining boom we had here a number of years ago, where every man and his dog was making 100K a year. However, after the boom not many people are making that anymore.

I make it a habit of not telling plates that I work FIFO, so when im on site, they get ghosted for the week that im away, and I'll hit them up when im back in town. There was never any problem with that until I accidentally let slip to a girl I was with that I work FIFO....all of a sudden im expected to pay for stuff all the time, take her to nicer, more up market restaurants and bars. Things of that nature.

All ways keep them guessing, never let them know how much you are worth financially, because then they start wondering if they can do better.

Should apply the same standard to a woman if you want to settle down-demonstrates good work ethic and makes good money or is on the way to be.
