Personally, most of the time, I only bother to get a chick's phone number the next day, after I fuck her. The few exceptions are if I built attraction, and felt a good vibe, but couldn't end up closing for whatever reason. If I did this right, she will often ask for my number when I tell her that I gotta jump. Still though, If I didn't get her back to my place that night, the chances of fucking her are somewhat decreased.

Correct! Chances are you don't have a high SMV and you're just waiting for Tooth Princess to call you. What I've said is far more effective and actually works, INCLUDING unattractive guys that have no other options. But perhaps I was a terse in describing the latter part of anti-dump's machine. You aren't sitting back and chilling. You waiting 4 days to call them after you their number. This is because if a chick really really likes you she will be just as happy you called on day 4 as she would be on day 1 which for a lot of girls is just getting them while the iron is hot. Remember we are distinguishing between girls being genuinely interested in you, rather then girls who you have spiked their attraction and relying solely on that to get you through.

i agree with what you are saying but in regards to my original post, i am discussing people doing beta things, like buying a woman a drink, and then when getting a number out of this, they are using it to justify their beta actions. this is maybe a nice ego boost in the short term, if you are not accustomed to getting numbers, but it is detrimental to long term growth.
