Start lifting (don't pretend you do, I can tell you don't) and find a physical hobby. And not martial arts or MMA or some other short-guy crap, I'm talking hiking or boating or fishing, something where you can take the girl along and have a chance for personal interaction and close contact.
She studies "media studies".
If she's pretty and in media studies, she will at least end up in a $30,000.00 per year job without too much trouble. It's a safe bet. Build her up about how good she is with people and help her along. As far as your interest in tech fields, don't talk about it. If she asks, tell her you're into technical fields because technology is one of the few frontiers left in this world and you want to explore it. Otherwise you'll seem like just another STEM sperg.

I used my first computer in 1981. TI99-4a with BASIC and nothing else.
Kept on with BASIC and LOGO until 1989 when my Computer Math teacher brought in a Turbo Pascal disk.
Started into *NIX in 1994 with a sysadmin job at a hospital in the midwest US. DG Eclipse MV-2000 with RDOS and a frame-relay to a VMS box at Perot Systems Corp in Dallas.
1996 got on the net, within a year was Linux-only at home. Spent the first 6 months without X because shit video card. Worked in the adult industry scripting AVS sites in PHP and PERL, occasionally kludging in some C binaries for CPU-intensive processes.

The entrance to the tunnel is a Virtualbox OpenBSD instance on the laptop.
