This subreddit was created after /u/TalShar wrote a post decrying emotional abuse that unexpectedly exploded in popularity. Several users requested that a subreddit be created which would be focused on developing and sharing healthy ways to form and keep strong, healthy cooperative relationships.

This is a place to discuss and share success stories and ideas, and for those who have suffered emotional wounds from such treatment to recuperate together and learn to forge healthy bonds with one another. The name "Punching Morpheus" comes from the last line of /u/TalShar's post: "The Morpheus of sexual strategy is offering you two pills: Red and blue. Win sexual strategy, or lose it. Punch him in the face and tell him you're not playing his stupid game."

Here's the healthy alternative. If someone is doing something that is bad enough that you're considering leaving them, you need to be upfront with them. "Hey, listen, I'm willing to work through this, but if you don't quit trying to degrade me in front of my friends, this isn't going to work out." It's upfront, it's honest, and it communicates the objective and the consequence if the objective is not met.

Yeah sure. Ultimatums work a lot better than subtle deniable flirting with hot women.

The problem with his form of dread is that she will test that ultimatum. He moved himself into a position where he either has to walk or gets walked all over.

At the lowest form dread is not fear. Dread is to remind her that the man has options that she made the right choice that she has a desirable one.

He's proposing giving ultimatums, plenty of prior discussions here on that. Generally agreed that beta guys feel the need to give ultimatums, because if you're really in control and she respects you, then you wouldn't have to.

Never be a man of words. Be a man of action.

There are several problems with ultimata:

If you are not righteous about it and consistent in the following action you will massively loose respect.
Women do not like to make decisions but want to be lead. They need somebody to blame afterwards to hamster away their guilt in the incident.
You are showing that you care about the specific topic and expose a vulnerability to her which she could exploit wich could lead to you loosing frame some day.
It shows that you care so much about her that you are willing to sacrifice a tiny bit of your dignity to keep the relationship going. This will give them power over you. Never let them know how much you care. Do care as much as you want, but never let them know.
Also this is likely to cause drama and women crave drama as it is the ultimate form of attention to get. They might even try to fuck things up deliberatly in a smaller frame because they know it will bring them to your attention.

Instead make sure you educate and teach your women. Tell them what they are supposed to do. Call them out on their bullshit AND explain to them what they did wrong and why they did it wrong. Have your own rules about what you can live with and what you aren't going to take and where the boundaries are. Observe the rules and know what actions you will take if they are violated and then follow the actions stoicly.

If you want your women to do things she is not willing to do this won't work though. You need to communicate inderectly to them. For instance if you want them to loose weight because they put some on you never tell them that they are fat or suggest that they might want to go to a gym. Instead you might just withdraw sex from them and don't mention why you do that. Or you might tell her how much sexier she is when you see a 9.5 on the street. She will know you are lying and the hamster kicks in.

Her hamster is your best friend, but it can only be fed and won't jump in the wheel if you tell it to do so, but when it decides to do so. Dread game isn't about telling something, but about making her fantasy to come up with something.

Edit: And it's your responsibility to teach her options. If you won't do it for you than at least do it for the ones following you.

OMG in a 20+ year marriage and I think the linked poster has it mostly right. Sexual denial is tantamount to playing Dread Games which I say makes DREAD the go to response for sexual denial.

The straight out confrontation advocated in the thread ONLY works if you have the power (i.e. she wants the relationship more than you). These are boundaries that need to be set early on when you are committing- cuz once that is done SHE has all the power. The only power left to men is the Dread- this is why they go into such cannption shit fits about it.
