This is all true, and it took me a long time to realize it. Generally the "cool" kids are the ones who contribute to the vibe of the group, and the outcasts are those who don't.

I kinda have to agree here with this premise. As many years as I have been in the military (20+), was I NEVER able to get laid with all that sausage around me. I had to go it alone in order for girls to feel comfortable enough to be that vulnerable. I talk sports in bars with other dudes because #1. I like sports - #2. it's an ice breaker for other guys to talk about things with people you don't already know. If females see a guy talk to other guys they may have keyed in on that particular one because he is tall, handsome, etc...whatever is pleasing to her eye at the time. But once they see him break away from "the pack" in order to pursue herself, it lends towards "the chase". Which is what many (not all) are after: and then one is much more likely to achieve their primary "goal".

Pretty interesting points OP. I'm reminded of a conversation I just had with a female co-worker today. I definitely just yapped too much.

This is the wrong way of thinking about group dynamics and it ignores the fact that during the night - there will be periods where being up or down is appropriate.

Also - if some guy is complaining - ask yourself - why are they complaining? Ignoring or suppressing it only makes things worse. If I'm out with a group of friends, and one of us is getting moody, we just ask whats going on - spend a moment sympathizing and soothing - and then get back to what we were doing before. We dont punish the guy for being real
