Of course she's using you. She's a psychopathic cunt just like her babydaddy. She's sucking you dry like a raw oyster. She sensed your weakness ("I keep thinking I can be superman and save this chick") and has been using it to manipulate you.

I've been through 2 abusive relationships, so I'm going to give you the straight:

1) She will never leave you. She will leech off you for as long as possible and do whatever it takes to keep leeching.

2) The law is on her side. It sounds like she isn't savvy to using law enforcement to manipulate you, but I wouldn't be so sure yet. Punching you in the face? That's how she gets you to retaliate, then she calls the cops, then she gets restraining orders, then she gets child support - it'll happen again. She will do whatever it takes to suck resources out of you. Do not underestimate the depth of her cunning.

3) Out of sight, out of mind. This is her only weakness. She is an easily distracted idiot. You can use this to your advantage. You need to put physical distance between you and her yesterday.

4) You are not going to save her. No one can save her. You want to save her because you feel like something about you isn't good enough. Ignore those feelings. They are not helping you. Life is lived by the assholes, the victors, the users, the takers.

5) You are in an abusive relationship and you need to act accordingly.

How you put physical distance between you two? You're going to have to employ logistics. I would recommend looking up all the sites that show battered women how to leave. You are in the same position.

I would recommend moving out ASAP. If you can't manage that, then it's going to be much more difficult. I would recommend moving out and giving her no way to contact you. Stop paying rent and giving her any money. Let her know it's over and refuse to talk to her.

6) If you do not take drastic measures, this will not end and you will only draw it out.

I know you care about the baby, but the baby will be fine without you. Understand that at any moment, the mother (or father) can simply take the child and you will never see it again. There is no reason for you to invest in the child.

I don't know if you own or rent, but this is easier if you rent, obviously. If you own, well shit.

Another option, I suppose is to break up with her but keep letting her live there. Just ignore her, ignore the baby, don't give her money or anything else.

Another card you could play is get her arrested for drug possession while the child is with her. That might solve your problem, but I doubt it. Best solution is for you to disappear.

Make your intentions and expectations known. You shouldn't be investing money into this chick, but if you must, define what you will and will not pay for.

If these are things she's not willing to give you, then "friend-zone" her and tell her she needs to stay somewhere else.

If you are worried about the child, state that if she brings the father back into the kids life(regardless of whether she's with you or not) then you'll call child protective services.
