It is often said that you can’t change your face and that in order to improve your physical appearance you have to lift and get big. That is not entirely true. Sure, you MUST lift, and you can’t change your facial structure without surgery (if you do resort to surgery you will look weird and feel gay), but that doesn’t mean that your facial attractiveness can not be increased. If you can go from a 5/10 to a 7/10 by lifting, why not add one point to your physical appearance and become an 8/10 by taking good care of your facial aesthetics?
I went from having an average-looking face to having a good-looking face by doing some of the following things and so can you.
HAIR
The easiest thing you can do to improve your physical appearance in less than an hour is to get a new haircut. But first, you need to figure out what your face shape is:
Heart/Triangular Face: Opt for a haircut with a decent amount of volume on the top and avoid tight sides to compensate for your narrow chin and jaw. Examples.
Square Face: A very versatile face shape. Both short and long haircuts will fit you well. Examples.
Oval Face: Again, a very versatile shape. Most haircuts work with this face shape, but as someone who has this shape, I recommend going for a haircut that is tight on the sides and the back, with a medium-sized pompadour on the top. Examples.
Round Face: As someone with a round face, you want to get a haircut that has a well-defined structure. Avoid haircuts that accentuate your face’s roundness. Example.
If you have trouble determining what your face shape is, or you can not find the proper haircut, ask your barber for a recommendation. Otherwise, show him a picture of your desired haircut. Depending on your hairstyle, hair density and growth speed, you may have to go to the barbershop every 2-3 weeks. Never wait more than 4 weeks. A good barber will also show you what products to use and how to style your new haircut, if required.
If you are bald, or far into the balding process, shave your head with a good razor every other week and moisturize your scalp every morning after taking a shower. The best thing you can do to compensate for your lack of hair is growing out a manly, healthy beard, which is what we are going to be taking a look at next.
FACIAL HAIR
Growing facial hair is a great way to look more masculine. However, it needs to be taken care of, or else you will look like a hobo. Not everyone has the optimal facial structure to sport a full, long beard, so experiment until you find the right beard length and shape or ask your barber for advice.
If your beard is very patchy, do NOT let it grow. Stick to a very short stubble or nothing at all until you can grow a fuller beard. A good way to increase your facial hair density and growth speed is by taking biotin (Almost all multivitamin supplements contain biotin). You can also find special beard oils, which together with a good massage will incentivise beard growth.
The cleaner option, however, is always a stubble. It is easy to maintain, enhances your bone structure and looks way cleaner than a full beard. Studies have shown that most women prefer stubbles over full beards, with the 10-day stubble being their favourite form of facial hair. In order to sport a clean stubble, figure out what length best fits you and simply use a beard trimmer to keep it in check.
It is also very important to shave your neck and your cheeks, regardless of what kind of facial hair you have and how long it is. Do this every other day to keep it looking as clean as possible.
EYEBROWS
Unless you have a unibrow, this step is optional. Some men are born with great eyebrows, but most of us could benefit from regularly tweezing our eyebrows. The point here is to avoid looking feminine, so when it comes to male eyebrow grooming, less is more.
It would be hard to explain how to properly groom your eyebrows with words, so take a look at this video to find out how to do it.
Grooming one’s eyebrows is a difficult task, so if your eyebrows are too bushy or you don’t want to fuck up, get them fixed by a specialist. Ask them to keep your eyebrows looking as natural as possible, or else you will look like a fag.
TEETH
A good smile is one of the most attractive features a man can have. Therefore, investing in your teeth is a great way to improve your looks. If your teeth are misplaced and ugly, consider getting dental braces. They are expensive, but I firmly believe that they are worth the investment.
Besides getting your teeth fixed, you should strive to keep them as white as possible. If you are still young (early 20s) and have had a good dental hygiene throughout the years, chances are your teeth are still rather white. In this case, eating clean and brushing your teeth up to 3 times a day with an electric toothbrush and a high quality toothpaste is enough to keep them looking white for a long time. You can also try to whiten them a little bit more by adding baking soda to your toothpaste 2-3 times a week (doing this more often could have negative side-effects).
If your teeth are yellow, you can invest in a professional teeth-whitening treatment, or whiten them at home by using a teeth-whitening kit.
SKIN
Having radiant, healthy skin is extremely important. If you don’t have any relevant skin problem, simply get a face cleanser, an AM moisturizer, a PM moisturizer (or one that is both AM and PM) and a facial scrub.
Wash your face with the cleanser both in the morning and before bed. Apply the corresponding moisturizer after using the cleanser, and exfoliate your skin with the scrub twice a week. Make sure your AM moisturizer contains sunscreen and is appropriate for your skin type (oily, dry, or both).
If you have mild acne, use the same routine but make sure your moisturizer is non-comedogenic. In addition, get a spot-treatment product that contains salicylic acid.
If you have a more serious kind of acne, whiteheads, blackheads or other skin problems, go to the dermatologist and get professional help.
