Patriarchy gives men responsibility. As such, a man has to answer for the behavior of the women he has influence over.

I actually think that Patriarchy is a result of responsibility being handed over to men. Without that responsibility (men are still saddled with the obligations of such thanks to the courts but gain none of the privileges that come with the responsibility) men should be considered blameless.

ummmm, not really. An individual man has little power of the legal systems that have been put in place that have very literally and completely destroyed his power over his family.

Politicians, mostly male, appealing to the female vote for personal gain did that. No fault divorce destroyed his power. High alimony combined with no child custody and high child support destroyed his power. Domestic violence laws destroyed his power. Testicles the size of Jupiter couldn't fix those problems for individual fathers. Fathers now have fear instead of power.
