Hi RP, I've been a lurker for quite some time. I recently decided to try to implement some of the strategies advocated here for conversation and meeting people. I will talk to a woman for a while and then leave without asking for her contact details; my goal in any such interaction is that when I say goodbye to her, she should ask me for my contact details - Facebook or a phone number. If she does, I've won that interaction - if not, I've lost.

I want to detail one such loss I had today. I was riding on the train to get back to my university from London. I sat opposite a beautiful young woman who actually initiated conversation with me first - asking for a pen. She may have just needed a pen, but I picked up on her accent (she was from the US, as am I) so we started talking and had some really good conversation. These are some of the points I implemented newly after reading about on redpill:

-Retain eye contact beyond what you would normally feel comfortable with

-Don't speak too much, and speak in a deeper voice than normal

-Don't laugh at your own jokes, don't say stupid shit, don't obviously flirt

I feel like from the start we genuinely hit it off amazingly - she was really nodding and smiling at everything I said. However, after a while I kinda ran out of things to say and the train was going for an hour and a half. I kinda just let the conversation die, and when I started it up about 20 mins later she didn't seem as interested. She did have a boyfriend, so perhaps that was the reason, but when we got to the station (she was meeting him there) she did not ask for my details. So I lost. It's fine, because I have a GF - the point is not to get bitches, it's to improve my ability to connect with people.

Here are my questions: Did I do the right thing letting the conversation die after I ran out of shit to say? What do you guys do when you both run out of things to say to each other? When you seemingly hit it off with someone what do you do to keep things going?
