My general rule is:

If she offers to pay her way, and I really like her, am having a great day, or think it'll impress her a lot, I may offer to pay the whole thing.

If she never offers, I automatically ask for separate bills. She accepts that with no complaints? All good. She acts offended, tries to insult my masculinity or shame me into paying, or anything along those lines? Guess who's never getting another call...

Whenever a girl offers to pay for drinks or dinner, the polite response would be, "oh no don't worry I have this.." and pull out your wallet.

Honestly, I used this as a good test. If you're looking for relationship material, see how she reacts to splitting the bill. It's a good filter for princess mentality.

Edit: Also, good catch. "The person who asks for the date should pay" sounds equitable until you add "The person who asks for the date is nearly always male".

Just go dutch. Seriously. Either she's interested in you, or she's not. If she's interested in you, then it doesn't matter who pays. But if she's not interested in you, and you pay, then she's chumping you. The idea that she's going to be more interested in you if you're generous is chump bait. Chumps lack a sense of reality, of what is really deserving and just in the situation. She doesn't deserve anything special just for agreeing to go out with you.

I'm in my 40s. I have found my very first girl that wants to pay for dinners, and she did it all by herself, and she's persistent about it. They are a rare breed.

You have to set the framework from the very beginning. If you always pay now, you're always going to pay in the future, and if you do try to change things up she's going to look at you differently and it'll have an impact on your relationship. However, on the other hand if you start things off with her paying half for dates and that precedent gets established riht from the start, you'll have a lot more money in the long run and won't have to worry about losing attraction down the road if you're short on cash and need her to pay her share, since that's what's already established by default. Then when you pull an alpha move and pay for everything on occasion it has some real weight behind it.
