The men confessed following lengthy interrogations but later recanted, claiming their admissions were the result of exhaustion and police coercion.

The men were eventually exonerated after Matias Reyes, a serial rapist and murderer, confessed in 2002, with DNA tying him to the scene. By then, however, all five had served prison terms.

And that's why you never, ever talk to the police without your attorney present. The police had gathered DNA evidence incompatible with them, but it was far easier for them to grill these (at the time) kids and fuck with their heads until they confessed.

The youngest guy served 13 YEARS! and he was 16!

12 mil (his share of the 41 mil) doesn't come fucking close to rectifying this situation.

In cases like this the crown and police should be reprimanded.

Who are the cops responsible for this? Why don't we reinvestigate every case they ever worked on, because the odds are, this isnt an isolated incident? How about the money for the settlement comes out of these officers retirement?

These guys were not innocent. I've studied this case extensively for a number of years and there is no doubt in my mind and I would encourage you guys to read the facts on this before jumping to conclusions. Once you read the facts you will see this is just political posturing and all of these men were involved in the attack. They all still admit to holding her down, etc, but there excuse is when they were on top of her they actually didn't penetrate her. Fucking animals.
