I've been on reddit long enough to notice that subreddits start going downhill at around 8000 subscribers. What I'm not sure about is the cause and effect. Is it low effort content that causes these problems or is it mods overreacting with policies such as above?

You do realize what you're asking here? Instead of the content linked generating discussion, you are mandating a low effort "tl;dr" along with it. You think you can improve the quality of posts with such a mandate?

Wow really? Tell me more about how I should give a fuck and dedicate a whole thread deconstructing something that lame!

There's also a lot of meta stuff pointing to other threads going on lately on the front page and to me, that's the low quality content.

I just don't get it when it becomes an obsession.

Most of it comes down to stirring up drama with other subreddits and we know that drama is for bitches.

I refrain from making fun of blue pills because what's the point and how it is going to benefit me when it mostly just comes down to stroking my ego and vanity and defining my identity as us vs them?

Bullying is for the weak and insecure seeking a higher status than what they really are and sometimes the reactions of some members regarding the clueless blue pills are not far away from it.

I also thought that we operated from the mindset that most of the world is blue pill, so what's the point of trying to point out every single blue pill examples there's to find and why does it seem like a never ending surprise to find the pervasive blue pill mentality in the first place?

Is there a need to constantly reinforce the existence of the blue pill or can we just define a set of axioms with some attempted proofs that noobs will evaluate, figure out if it makes sense for them or not, learn to recognize the patterns and we can fucking move on to some other shit at some point in time?

I prefer when we concentrate on solving problems, answering questions of people who actually seek our advice, deconstructing, trying to invalidate or refining our theories.

I won't try to stop anybody, this is just my opinion that too many blue pills examples are becoming lame, formulaic and tiresome and that stirring up drama on other subreddits is very bitch like.

While I'm all for reporting the bullshit to make it easier for the mods, we need to ensure that this place does not become an echo chamber. Well reasoned and respectful dissenting voices should not be disallowed.
