I want to use an example some will find very uninspiring about what the fundamentals of the red pill (and not the condiments that get passed around afterwards) can do to your perspective about experiencing life.
Happened to get my first car passed down to me by my aunt after she left the country. It was (and is) a broken old rusty piece of shit Fiat Uno Fire, last of its kind and you can't even find parts for it anymore.
The prospect of driving that thing was terrifying. And while I had driven it before as a kid, maybe 15, it still felt like I was getting into a coffin on wheels.
Growing up under the "guidance" of a single mother means I fear experimenting, new things are terrifying to me, and I almost always to stay in my comfort zone. These are things I am desperately working on changing.
I was heading to my first job interview and I was taking that car, even if it proved to be my grave.
I knew nothing about cars so didn't even check the oil or coolant, which both turned out to be completely drained after the car had spent 3 years parked in our garage.
My first time breaking down on the road was terrifying. I panicked and worried and paced back and forth. The world seemed to be ending. Perhaps remnant of all of my experiences dealing with misfortune under the control of women in my life, my mother and older sister.
I read the sidebar religiously when I found this sub. It was the only thing I did for weeks. It became an obsession. Wuojo is my current best source of TRP material.
Yesterday my car door completely got separated from its hinges and came off. I couldn't close my car door. I laughed, took off my jacket, hammered away at the hinges with a tire iron, and when that didn't work I called my cousin, we tied a knot around the inner door handle with the seatbelt and drove it to his house where he had the right tools to fix it.
I enjoyed the rest of my day. My car door is sealed shut and I can't open it for now but that didn't ruin my day. I took it as an experience to learn how car doors work, got my hands dirty, did my best to outwit my misfortune, and went on with my day.
I'm loving life right now. And that includes the piece of shit I take to work everyday. Thanks for listening.
