Wow... what an interesting month.

First, I finally sat my boss down and let him know that I want to make more money. I told him that I was a former business owner, I know money doesn't grown on trees, but I deserve more cash. I also know that I get paid fairly well for what I do for him, and that I've hit the ceiling as far as position in the company is concerned. With all that taken into account, I had an idea. I'd like to cut down a little on my pay and responsibilities with his company, and go work for other companies, too. I'd like to work most of the time from home. I'm a single father of three, and it's tough commuting 2 hours every day and doing all I need to maintain a house and be a good dad... especially since I can do 99% of my job from anywhere in the world with an internet connection.

I was all business. I was confident. To the point. He thought for about five seconds, and said "I like it. I know about 4 guys who would hire you immediately. This is a great idea. Let's do it."

Fast-forward to three weeks later, and I just left a meeting with my boss and two other CEO's... we're going to do a "job share" type of thing where I work for all three of them as an employee. My pay just went up 64%... and I work from home. Why? Because I asked.

My woman of 9 months had a bit of an emotional dump. We're getting serious and she's in a profession that may very well take her far away in a year. We did a road trip this weekend and for about an hour she hamstered like I've never heard her before. She wanted to be with me forever... but this is insane. Long-distance relationships don't work, she wants to quit her career and just be an at-home mom, no.. she wants to continue with her career. She did all of that schooling and work to get to where she is. She can't dump it all. People tell her to go back home to her country and live the high life.. but all of those people are miserable and divorced. I sat quietly and drove during all of this.

Her: "What do you think of all this, babe? You okay?"

Me: "I'm sure you'll get it all figured out. Don't worry about me. I'm awesome. This bagel is not nearly as good as the ones you can get in NYC, though."

It was as if I had flipped a switch. Shit test passed. I was able to take her emotional vomiting with flying colors. She snuggled me and rubbed my head the whole long drive. Sex that weekend was beyond amazing. When we got back home, she made meals, gave me a head massage, played with the kids, made cookies, more awesome sex... just became super awesome red pill woman. Why? Because she felt at ease. She had a man by her side for the first time. I'm that man, and it makes me feel like a million bucks.

Yes, I'm bragging. The last couple of years have been tough (see other posts), but things are clicking for me. I would never have imagined I'd be in the position I am in now. Life is funny..
