Being a Man is not "not having emotions", but "controlling your emotions". Just like courage is not "the absence of fear", but "acting despite the fear", so must you act in the face of emotions. Love, Pain, Despair, Fear, Doubt... Acknowledge them, feel them fully, appreciate how alive they make you feel... but act rationally always.

It is normal to be emotional and sentimental. It's very abnormal to not have emotions or to be in complete control of your emotions. It is terrible to be overemotional, it's terrible to not be in control of your emotions, and it's worst of all to have your emotional state be manipulated by others. If she can control your emotions through typical chick behaviors, she'll feel zero respect for you.

The ideal you should shoot for is to have complete control of your emotions - which means not denying their existence, but rather accepting them and harnessing the power of your mind to subjugate your emotions to your will. That is a verbose way of saying "feel the feeling, then do the right thing anyway."

For example, let's say your bitch cheated on you. Ok, that sucks. You feel like shit, you feel inadequate as a man, you feel sad that she's destroyed something you thought was beautiful - your relationship. You feel angry, you want revenge, you feel furious at yourself for being so stupid and not seeing it coming.

But you calm yourself because that's what we can do as men. Unlike women, we have the ability to choose how we feel and trump our kneejerk feelings. You harden yourself and do the right thing - calmly remove her from your life and dissect the events that transpired. What can you learn, what can you do better, and what is just her doing what women do.

Then when you've learned and you have received something of value from the situation, you cling to that and go forward armed with that "red pill" so to speak. For example if you were screwed in business, you can proceed knowing that at least you will never let yourself be screwed in that particular fashion again. In the cheating GF example, you know have learned something about vetting or perhaps the importance of dread / SMV upkeep. Whatever it is, you embrace the pain and lesson, and feel liberated from negative emotions.

Go read Victor Frankel's book on surviving in a concentration camp in WWII. He details how he learns about his own ability to choose how he feels and how he reacts, and how he finds mental freedom when he is watching his people being tortured, starved and murdered. It's not that you don't feel the negative emotions or that you get to switch an off-switch. It's hard. You struggle with it constantly. It's easy to just give in and let your emotional reactions to external phenomena drive you. That is what new age men and feminists claim to want for men - they say the masculine ideal of emotional composure and hardening is unhealthy, and men should be free to be as emotional as women.

And yeah, it is unhealthy for weak minded people. Sucks for them. But for people who want to be successful, strong men, the key is accepting that struggle and being OK using the power of your mind to beat your emotions into submission.

Use it as a weapon. Learn how to read body language, assess the mood of the environment, tone of voice. If you're as sensitive as you say you are you'd be surprised how naturally good you are at these things.

You've gotten some amazing words from our brothers when I think 99% of reddit would have expected us to savage you. So I can't really add much, but maybe a few simplifications for other simple folk like me.

You can't not have emotions, you are human. They say men should be sensitive, that's a a Hollywood translation turned into a titanic shit test; what they original mean is men should understand emotions, not just reject every sense of them. You can drop a tear from time to time, particularly for your fallen brothers or your father's passing. NEVER as much as wipe an eye when your mother dies. Women know we feel this shit on the inside. It's how we act on the out that matters.

You are normal. Just keep your shit together.

Absolutely normal.

Knowing you are moving on well in advance is a great thing because you can mentally prepare for the transition. By the time you actually move along you will have completely come to terms with your emotional state.

When it's hard is when things happen suddenly and without warning... that's trauma. Something like a natural disaster can rip your sense of reality away suddenly.

The Red Pill is:

...which means we process the "real" first and the "feelz" second, but we do feel things. We aren't emotionally stunted but just process our emotions in a way which is more controlled and contained.

Amused Mastery is when you can look at your own and other people's emotions and recognize patterns in how they work. If you are at the highest level you know how emotions function. (the Rubik's Cube™ idea)

So be thankful you can relax and work through the emotions necessary without being rushed. When the move actually happens you are 100% over it already.

This post doesn't read very smoothly bro. There's a bunch of grammar errors and missing words. My intention isn't to be mean, I used to write the same way (carelessly) and since have found a massive amount of value in taking the necessary time to get it right. It shows respect for your reader and also the thought you are sharing.

This will seem extra harsh if English isn't your second language, just trying to help.

Oh, and I know that feeling you are talking about! Nostalgia can be soo bittersweet. There is no 'normal' brother.
