Intro- We mock some because we perceive they haven't seen shit. We mock others because we perceive that they refuse to grow. 80/20 rule - 80% of the complainers won't grow or have irrelevant struggles. Stoicism - don't complain about complainers - overcome their negative energy by keeping grounded. When facing hardship yourself maintain frame and try not to be a sad sack.
Body-
No computer, on mobile, I'll try to keep this short. How many of us hear our peers complaining about irrelevant struggles like how their clan sucks or how their coffee got cold? How many of us hear our peers complaining about relevant but lowlife shit like being too hung over to show up to court or not paying their power bill?
The fact is that in spite of our and our peers' struggles only 20% are gonna actually learn something from the relevant shit or start stfu about petty shit. This is why Facebook and the news etc. are so popular - everyone can "vent".
This week I got shorted from a trusted vendor, got my car stolen, had to deal with fraudulent transactions with my bank, got stranded at 3:00am at the bar where I work due to the debit card not being able to call uber, and am dealing with a week delay on a bulk order for my clients (luckily it was a front).
I could complain and I'm sure I'd get plenty of empathy - but this is bad sexual strategy. I choose instead to mention my struggles off handedly, maintaining the illusion of control. I remain upbeat - yes my car is gone but the police are working on it and I have full coverage - I have good friends that are helping me just as I have helped them. Do you see how this reframes the conversation from complaining to explaining?
Lessons Learned-
frame, frame, frame, frame, frame. No matter what you're dealing with personally, or what negative vibes others are grinding your gears with, stay aloof and grounded.
