Frame is an interpretive scheme through which one sees and understands the social interaction taking place. If you're chatting up a girl, you understand the interaction in one way, and she understands it in another way. And you either adopt her way of looking at it (and break frame) or she adopts yours (and you hold frame). She thinks she's a princess who deserves a free drink from you, and you think that you're a stud who's above that -- or whatever. The idea is that you play your cards in such a way as to get her to operate in your view of the world, your reality. Only one frame wins out, so make sure it's yours.

Some talk about frame as if it's something internal. In a way, it is. If you've so convinced yourself of a particular frame, then you're more likely to convince others of it, too. But it's important to keep in mind that convincing others is also part of the game.

Frame is short for 'frame of reference' and refers to the concept that the same situation will appear differently to different observers. It is applied in everything from physics to politics.

A good example of frame in journalism and politics is the recent kerfuffle over Canadian justice minister Peter McKay's gendered letters of thanks for his staff on Mother's Day and Father's Day. Opponents in the law community and press decided to frame the issue as sexist and have been pounding him in the media ever since. Another choice of frame would have been to congratulate him on recognizing the unique qualities and responsibilities of working women, which is exactly the tactic invoked when arguing for more women judges or executives.

Here's the critical part about frame, however: frame is more important than fact. McKay's wife recently released a letter debunking some of the accusations against her husband, but that doesn't matter because McKay's credibility on the issue is shot - which was the intended purpose of the campaign in the first place. People are either going to believe McKay is a sexist thug, admire his wife for being such a strong, classy woman, or laugh at McKay for having to hide behind his wife. In each case the facts are irrelevant, and in each case his credibility is damaged via an ad hominem construct. This is a textbook case of frame failure in politics.

Which leads us to the second critical part about frame: there is logic to frame, but it is not necessarily logical. This is why TRP advocates specific responses to shit tests (e.g. agree and amplify). Many tests of your frame will be fallacious in form (e.g. loaded questions/statements, non-sequiturs, etc.), so any response that involves an explanation or a qualification will damage your frame. As soon as you start explaining or qualifying you may as well pack it in. Remember that most of your personal interactions are not debates over abstract concepts but rather bullying and shaming of your preferences and behaviour. Know the difference and when to apply the appropriate response.

This is perhaps the biggest hurdle in your personal interactions: the choice between holding your own frame of reference to events that occur, or entering into someone else's interpretation. (Arguably there is a third position of isolation and independence, but it is passive in form and thus defensive in nature.) When you are supplicating to your wife, girlfriend, or date and she has you agreeing with her every statement, you have entered her reality, her psychological space, her frame. This is easy and weak, and does not foster attraction.

I'm still fairly new at this myself, but I've found this to be the single most important part of understanding Red Pill as a social construct. Your frame is your base. It's your core principles based on what works. Everytime somebody mentions "don't lose your frame" they basically mean "don't break your principles to pander to her/him/them."

Your frame makes you who you want to be. Specifics get discussed all the time here and you can find plenty of example principles people use like "always escalate with a woman" or "this is how I deal with shit tests..."

Reality is what you make of it, Brah. Your perceptions of the world around you are always going to run through a matrix of opinions, assumptions, and inferences which are, in turn, a product of observation, experience, education, and training. You perceive something through that matrix, which guides your reaction and action. Many of us, prior to freeing our minds via TRP, only had a superficial understanding of the actions of others, which did not include an analysis or evaluation of the motivation underlying those actions.

RP helps us understand why certain people behave certain ways, which allows us to make better, more informed decisions as to the proper reaction (or absence of reaction) in a way that projects confidence and self-assuredness.

Your frame is a short-hand reference to your perception matrix, and the actions guided by it. Once you have an understanding of why certain actions make you feel a certain way, you have a greater degree of control over your reaction. Maintaining an alpha frame means being hyper aware of human behavioral motivation (the why of others' behavior) and reacting in a way that indicates dominance, control, abundance, intelligence, skill, and humor (and probably other qualities as well).

So when you maintain frame in a given situation, all you are really doing is internally saying, "I understand the reason this person is behaving this way towards me, and I am going to deliberately respond in a certain way such that I never appear weak, needy, or intimidated."
