Done this for the last week, and paleo for the last 3 an I've put on a little muscle but the amount of energy and mental clarity is just insane.

Oh ok lol. I thought it was some of kind staggered cycle where you do 12 off 8 on and eventually wind up eating at 4 am or whatever.

[–]reddit_analyst 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why is it that diet related tips seem to get downvoted so often? Is it because of the parasites that control so many behaviors? Not only is fasting a great tip for a lean body, but DRY fasting works even better, especially when combined with a work out.

[–]Flutterbree 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The reason IF works is not because of some magical "a calorie is not just a calorie" reasoning. It's because most people don't actually know what they're eating, and it is almost impossible for them to overeat in a single or two sittings over 8 hours.

[–]drallcom3 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly this. It's much easier to control your eating.

I just stick to a traditional bulk/cut. It's more effective if you're disciplined. IF is like a slow bulk for low body fat bodies.

[–]RedSunBlue 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

IF is great for losing weight, but if you're looking to bulk up, it can be quite challenging.

I found it extremely uncomfortable to shoehorn 3500 - 4000 calories in an 8 hour window.

Those of you on a bulk may find easier compliance on a traditional eat-every-3-hours plan.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, I personally don't see how anyone can down that much food in an 8-hour window and still hit protein macros.

For cutting it is amazing though.

[–]doughd 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

IF for 3 years. I go 72 hours a week with no food. Im beaver as fuck, and healthy as fuck.

[–]Endorsed ContributorOccamsUsername 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

During the week, I skip all breakfasts and lunches and may only have about 100 calories if hunger becomes too severe, but this rarely happens. I eat very big dinners to make sure I sleep well and have fuel to repair muscles. I've been enjoying quite a lot of success with this combined with very strict low carb eating. The diet timing on what I do is described as the "Warrior Diet". I would recommend it to anyone with a respectable degree of self control.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Excellent, I prefer a two meal a day approach in a 6-8 hour window, but everybody is different. I find that eating larger meals is more satisfying. I will experiment with the Warrior Diet (single meal).

[–]Endorsed ContributorOccamsUsername 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My understanding is if you contain it to a single large feasting period over a period of a few hours (or, in my case, sometimes just half an hour because when I see a plate of food, I attack visciously), the more you can cut body fat by staying in a fasted, or ketogenic state, longer. Results will be more swift with weight loss if you condense meals further.

I don't think posts about specific diets or exercises belong in /r/theredpill

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Why is this guy getting upvotes?

Proper dieting can completely change not only how the world perceives you, but how you perceive the world, and in a very positive manner. Information that can help us to maximize intellect / fitness / SMV definitely belongs in /r/theredpill.

[–]nihilistic_fatalist 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

My view.

/r/theredpill is about highlighting what the opposite sex is attracted to.
i.e well trained fit people are more attractive than fat slobs.

If you want to learn about how to act to become more fit there are resources for that.
/r/fitness or even /r/becomeaman

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My view.

You don't speak for everyone. And most of the founding members were extremely interested in diet and fitness related information.

/r/becomeaman was supposed to be a place complete beginners could go to get on the right track without having to sift through a billion posts, this doesn't doesn't mean the same info can't be posted here.

If they defy conventional wisdom, which is what the RP is all about, then I think they do.

[–]last_to_know 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think getting fit definitely fits this sub.

[–]RedSunBlue 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If it runs counter to the popular narrative, it is red pill.

[–]nihilistic_fatalist 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Intermittent fasting is not exactly some small or new method. What exactly do you think the popular narrative is?

[–]Buchloe -2 points-1 points0 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Only talk about women in the red pill sub!

[–]Peteriscoo69 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't know, anything besides keeping a food journal and counting calories just seems like a fad to me. I'm sure it has it's merits and produces results, but there are much better, more effective, easier, and healthier ways to lose weight. Personally, I feel too drained to hit the gym if I've been skipping meals.

This probably doesn't belong in this sub. Although, I'd welcome a tread that discusses what other RP'ers are eating. However, most of that stuff can already be found on /r/fitness or other subs.

I wonder where you're getting your information. Fasting is healthy, just don't overdo it.

  • 1 day a week.
  • A 3 day fast every 4 months.
  • If you're really into it, a 7 day fast once a year.

Fasting diverts the enormous amount of energy it takes to digest food, and puts it into cleaning out toxins (why you might feel like crap at first). You need to start slow, toxins go into the bloodstream before they get filtered out. You don't want to overtax your filtration systems.

After several months you'll have cleaned out a major portion of old toxic gunk that had accumulated. Over the years your body will run smoother and you'll think clearer.

Do it intelligently, and fasting is very good for you.
