The word "reluctant" is a clue here.

I'll try to explain the female perspective (if you're ok with that). Having too many choices makes us less satisfied. Either be successful in your career and give up the chance to be a traditional wife and mother. Or be a traditional wife and mother and give up the chance to see what you can accomplish in the professional world. You can't do both. But, if you pick the first one, you may regret not being there for your kids. If you pick the second one, you may end up sitting on the sidelines watching people you're smarter than succeed in careers you could have had. We don't like missing out. No one does.

Basically, it's not that we're stupid or impossible to please. It's that there are two choices that both have pretty significant pros and cons. Having to choose between them leaves us always wondering what might have been.

You will see more and more of this.

Currently there are more women attending college than men. So in the future, women will have to marry down. But if they do, they will be unhappy. And they will probably file for divorce. But if they do. If they make more money than men, then they will owe men alimony.

So then if women don't marry down because they need a successful man, then they will have to go after a small pool of successful white collar men. We already know where this is headed. You only need to look at the black community. Successful Black men know they hold all the cards and they play it to the hilt. They will cycle thru women who are looking to get married.

The future will be very interesting. Women will have to fight over a limited pool of successful white collar men.

How many women say that they did anything not putting themselves in the a positive context by choice. That's called taking responsibility for your situation and your actions. That's the real story here.

Confirmed, 100%. Was talking to a girl friend of mine who has been with her boyfriend for 7 years, and that she loves him to bits. Her first and truest love.

HOWEVER!

Her new job is gonna offer her twice what he earns. And she admitted to me that she's going to resent him for earning so little.

OP, I really dislike how you cherry-picked data about a phenomenon which is rather complex to fit it with a rather narrow narrative.

Working mother survey where the info is taken from and which is quoted by the article.

The survey does indeed point to the tendency of women to be in the role of secondary breadwinners and/or housewives.

It also shows that society's view on gender roles is playing a large role in keeping that tendency going.

It also shows how, husbands are often not prepared to take enough of the "house-wife" work when they are fulfilling that role. And not because they are biologically incapable, but rather because they simply don't do enough.

Also, notice how, the article mentions that planned situations where the woman is the main breadwinner reported the highest satisfaction of their home lives.

"Moms who planned to become the breadwinner, with their partners’ input, report more satisfaction with their home lives than any other group we surveyed."

If you want to prove a point don't f***ing cherry-pick, it weakens your argument.

You should also look at the numbers mentioned and check what the relative differences between men and women are and make some claims from those instead of jumping to some simplistic linear conclusions.

There is actual statistical date presented to you and all you can do is pick the quote that agrees most with what you believe is true.
