Normally when we give presents it’s not good to ask to people to give it back, I think this is only valid if you are in some way scammed/ really damaged for the person. It looks like she also give you presents but the ones you gave have more value is that correct? In my vision ask the presents back would be valid if the damage that she did and the lack of respect towards you was big, like if the damage to you was so great as to not compensate in any way the moments you spent happy around her, think about it, in fact you are the only one who knows the answer to your post. Next time slow down in buying expensive presents and expensive dates.

Treated this girl right even though I didn't see a future with her, bought her a 300$ gold necklace for her birthday.

We broke up a couple days ago after our first therapy session which she was not contributing to at all. We were in therapy to try work through problems she created.

We had agreed I can see other people but she kept going through my phone while I was asleep and confronting me, and continually lied about changing but never put it into action, so I dumped her, I had already checked out emotionally as well so the crying, bargaining, etc. Didn't work this time.

She called me asking to talk and saying she wants to give me my birthday present (my birthday is December) and even though I deserve it I told her to return it cause I don't want to give her hope and I don't want any more memories with her.

Yeah I'm sure this guy deserved his present. He sounds great.

Now I'm pissed she has that token around her neck from me, and I want to tell her to pay me back for it or give it back.

I spent thousands on dates etc. Throughout our time together anyway. I don't feel like she deserves this.

Sure. Demand the necklace back, but don’t linger around waiting for it. Just give her a quick reply saying you want the necklace back or $300 as payment for wasting your time. Why not list the cost of therapy too, fuckit. You’ll never see that money. I mean, maybe if she’s desperate enough to see you in which case just snatch the shit and close the door.

Don’t worry about all the negativity here. Sure, you have a bunch of work to do on yourself. But I don’t see a reason why not to close this shit out with a judgment on her wasting your time. Put it out there and see how much she’s willing to pay for desperation. You literally have nothing to lose, you already lost it.

So, if you ask for it back, and she says no, then what? Not like you can legally take it back. Now you’re left more pissed off and and in my opinion you lose more self respect. I think that alone is a greater risk than the reward of $300.
