Rick and Morty is seriously fantastic. It's full of RP truths and general life lessons. Also one of the funniest shows I've seen.

[–]Iupvoteforknowledge22 points23 points24 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's my favorite TV show.

This is still a shit post though.

[–]dickholedoug3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I hate when shit is labeled RP. Shouldn't we stop labeling it and just call it the truth, despite what the naive populace wants to think? Like why is it a red pill truth, not just the truth.

The longer clip, which has Morty's dad going Blue Orbiter, and Rick laying down the RP truth: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rWunrNejmA

[–]TRP Vanguardnicethingyoucanthave10 points11 points12 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

That was brutal. It even had the classic blue-pill advice to just sit around and wait your turn.

Did that show get canceled or what?

[–]nateatwork20 points21 points22 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

New season upcoming in February I believe

[–]Idle_Redditing4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I always hated that advice and thought it was stupid.

How could anyone possibly think that it is good advice to wait for later to get what you want? That's not limited just to chicks.

The kings had to tell the peasants something to keep them happy!

[–]punis11 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Morty's dad even mentions The Wall, this is one of the most RP TV shows today

[–]killakoolaide8 points9 points10 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Rick Sanchez is about as rp as possible, even though hes not real

[–]punis14 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think he is a good example of a MGTOW

[–]killakoolaide2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

There is a dis-sociation from human empathy that is the hallmark of existentialism, which is the foundation of the show, which is brilliant.

[–]trpfieldreport0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Were you looking for "disassociation"?

[–]mscarn 1 points1 points1 points 11 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

"Dissociation" is the right word.

[–]trpfieldreport0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago [recovered] (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes.

As a physics student, I concur. The natural sciences are one of the few things that transcend human life in my opinion.

[–]mgtowmonk0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Hey longerdistance, What would be some good books to learn basic physics for someone who has no clue on that subject? Appreciate you for answering this.

[–]txlonghorns10 5 points5 points5 points 11 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Hey physics major here.

What are you interested in? If you just want basic info (eg: Newtonian Mechanics, basic E and M), any intro text book will be fine. Sure there are more interesting intro books, but a text book will be best for learning. Also side note, you need calculus to learn intro college physics. If you don't know calculus, stick with a trig based physics textbook. It's more natural to learn calc based physics but trig is fine. If you want to learn about certain branches of physics (quantum mechanics, thermodynamics, etc) but only want to have certain theorems explained to you (uncertainty principle, laws of thermodynamics) just find any book on the topic. When something confuses you, look it up online. Most of what I have learned through my 4 years was found on Wikipedia. Keep doing that until you understand it. If you want any specific answers, feel free to hit me up though

[–]mgtowmonk1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago [recovered] (0 children) | Copy Link

Cheers txlonghorns10, I'll definitely follow your advice.

[–]longerdistance2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's been a long time since I read popular physics books, so I might not be the best person to answer this. However I remember one book that offers a nice overview of the natural sceinces, including a lot of physics: "A Short History of Nearly Everything" by Bill Bryson. It's a great read for everyone who wants to have a basic understanding of science.

this book gives a great overview imo if quantum stuff is what you are into
