Texting for dummies:

Keep the (received/sent) text ratio at 1:1.
Use as few words as possible while texting.
Use texting to exchange logistics, any worthy exchange should be done in person.

A lot of guys will tell you texing is only for setting up meets. Generally this is true for local girls.

Some girls are looking for a little more (read:BB) and if you want to get in their pants (or maybe even actually like them) you're going to have to play along.

Also girls that are "going to be in town" are difficult for this reason. But you have to keep the dialogue going. If you don't you won't be on their mind.

I've learned, from reading and trying and failing and succeeding, that you can't be too rigid on your texting rules. 2/3rds rule, double wait time of her texts, etc can be great but they can hurt you sometimes too.

But for things like this that are going to be a few days, you have to talk every day or you will lose the dialogue. So keep the conversation going, but space it out that way it doesn't die before she arrives. General rule: keep some dialogue going until a meet is possible, and respond at about the pace she does. Ask questions, but try to bait her into asking to keep her invested. Learn a little about each other.

Y'know, generally I dislike using text too much...But.....

So my youngest plate is 19. What I figured out about her is she is really introverted, whereas I am a MASSIVE extrovert. I'm exothermic and she's endothermic, so to speak. So if we're in different cities as sometimes happens (frequently lately), I will text for other-than-logistics.

So I am traveling on business and spending the weekend out of pocket. I spent the day with some local friends chilling, tossing a frisbee around in a park with their dogs, having a BBQ, and watching a couple NFL games. So I texted her a photo of the dog with the frisbee, some steaks on the grill and my buddy grilling and a couple of other things over the course of the day. She draws energy from the interaction, sees me having fun and doing cool stuff with my local friends, etc.

So I provide her with a little bit of 'comfort' and that keeps her going, and thinking happy and positive things about me. This works b/c I don't do it often (every 3-4 days, max) and b/c she's young, introverted, and stays home a lot (her young brother just turned 3 and so she basically babysits him a lot/curls up and reads a book in her pajamas/ceases to exist or whatever my girls do when they're not with me.)

At home? "Back from airport. Come over at XX:XX", etc. So think of the 'rules' as 'guidelines' and not 'cheat codes'.

Set up a date now for when she comes back, then don't send any more texts. If she sends a text, keep the reply short or ignore it.

Doubledup-tn has some great advice. Follow it. I would ad 2 bits of advice. 1st: take your time returning texts. Wait before replying. This will make her think you have other options as you should. In business I notice that certain folks are hard to get ahold of. They are usually the important people. Why? Because important people are hard to get ahold of. That is the impression you want to portray. You are in demand.

2nd: never return a "whatcha doin?" text during peak weekend hours. Translation: some guy stood me up and you are seconds. With TRP, you are never seconds.

Wait until she gets back. There's absolutely no point in giving a woman what she wants (attention) when she hasn't given you what you want (sex). If she texts you while away, wait until the next day and give a quick short reply without asking her a question. It doesn't even matter if you have a read-receipt enabled on your phone, just wait until the next day.
