I found that after my first war experience in 91 that the second experience in 04 was much less stressful, despite being many years apart. After growing up in a shitty family full of beatings and terror, war was almost familiar and nearly comfortable because I was used to the random chaos and never knowing what was going to happen next, along with enduring pain and hardship.

Unknowingly, I inoculated myself against rejection in high school. I asked every female in grades 7 to 12 to marry me. I knew the answer would be no, but it still worked to make hearing a woman say no not much of a problem. That is a good example of what the author is talking about. No risk, but just enough stress to make a difference later on.

Now here I am, mid 40s and when I ask a woman out or whatever and she says no, I just keep on going and simply go ask another. After what I have endured and survived in my life, some moistened bint telling me LJBF or something leaves me seeing her like she is missing out, which she is, not me failing. Its her failure to see my SMV, not a failure of mine for not being something she wants.

I nearly died in a snowboard accident. I was unconscious for some minutes and couldn't remember anything for a week.

This near death experience put me back on the right track. Living life to the fullest now.

So, you could theoretically get "better" at talking to women without ever talking to them, but by fighting in a combat zone or putting yourself into similarly stressful situations?
