I'd add 'advertising' to it too. In this tech-dominated world having a website or social media account with many visitors/followers means you can make money with advertisements. Obviously that requires a substantial amount of visitors but number 4 also requires a substantial amount of money.

Your time is going to be invested up front no matter how much you try to escape the "watch how you spend your time/time is money!" trap. It happens.

They key is spending less and less time doing the same routine shit each day/week/year as possible.

If you're working for yourself and you're billing 30-40 hrs a week, you're doing something right IMO. Once you're at a point where you're meeting demand effectively, start brainstorming ways to automate/make passive certain parts of your business, and go from there.

Property and investments are the smartest way to go, but most people will have to bootstrap with capital before they can take advantage of those opportunities.

I would add, to get to the more profitable one's, depending on your starting resources you may need to go through a few steps to grow to the more profitable ones:

Consult (time) --> Provide repeatable service like Support (still time) --> grow and outsource this service (other people's time) --> provide Product (takes a while to get to) --> invest in property and rent out (manage with other people's time)

Number 4 doesn't have to be that expensive. Start with rental properties, single family units and work your way up to multi family dwellings. Having good debt (home mortgage on an investment property) gives you good tax returns when you have to do your taxes too. Doing #4 then gives you the freedom to do #2.

I am a trader. Trust me, it's not.You are just plain ignorant/mis-informed.

Trading is more like a business. The only ones who make money doing trading in the long term are those who invest/trade strategically. Yes, there are losses just like any other business but you must understand that it's not losses due to "gambling". (Most people gamble the markets but that's another story). If you invest("gamble" according to you) strategically, YOU WILL MAKE MONEY.

Do you know that the best minds of "artificial intelligence" build and manage supercomputers for larger hedge funds(hey, Why the fuck do "gamblers" need supercomputers?)? Do you think warren buffet or Bill Gates made $60B by "gambling" (according to you)? Yes, Bill Gates made most of his money "gambling"(Microsoft constitutes less than 2% of the money he made).

Learn about it before you write, kid. Maybe it's better if you change the name of the 5th category to something like "investing".

Good post, but I don't agree on placing stock trading under gambling. There are 4 actors in the stock markets:

Investors: seeking long term profit. They buy a medium/low amount of risk for a small premium.
Speculators: seeking short term profit. They buy an high amount of risk for a big premium.
Hedgers: seeking to minimize their risk. They transfer risks to other market actors (investors/speculators), and pay for the service.
Market makers: banks, brokers, etc... They facilitate transactions between market actors for a commission.

I appreciate the short and simple angle of this post but it's not very helpful. You could have definitely added some creativity or "meat" to some of your points. So I'll try myself, feel free to question any of my points.

Let's expand on Products.

You have products that require high ROI and expertise so focus on a product/service you are skilled in or knowledgable about. For example, - If you have over a decade of experience in X field. Write an e-book or offer consultancy on side, at a fixed rate.

Do you use/experience a lot of the same product? Write/Blog/Vlog about it. Read books? Write reviews and add an Amazon affiliate link at the end. FightingMediocrity YouTube channel has found a cool way of making money off the books he reads. Buy a lot clothes? Write advice guides, stack up advertising dollars.

Sell other people's time.

I think what you mean by this, is outsourcing work and charging a premium. Essentially how companies operate. Firstly, understand there is a lot of cheap labour out there and if you're willing to give direction, you can outsource common tasks to people in 3rd world countries and create great product/services. For example: - Web design - Where I used to work, we had an Indian design studio create websites for our clients at the fraction of the price. We charged a premium but that premium was our time directing the designers. - Virtual Assistants - Got an app idea? Have the vision, do the thinking and look for programmers outside the western world. The Four Hour a Week book, explains in further depth how all this works really.

Gambling - I'm surprised you recommended this without much advice. Luckily we're all adults here and don't follow poor advice blindly. Also including stock trading hit a nerve for a lot of people it seems.

I would like to add if you want go this route, read and research before partaking. Blitz through a few books on betting, card counting and set up a system where you can hedge your own bets and protect against self-destruction. I have a friend who bets a lot and has a range of tactics to off-set his risks and he makes a killing regularly.

You forgot the sixth way: theft and/or fraud. Carding is a great way to make money if you have the knowledge and don't give a fuck. I would highly recommend it to men trapped in child support debt slavery. You could even card women exclusively if you wanted.

Property development.

Between the 1980s-2007, anybody with a pulse could make money in real estate with only short downturns. There's been a small resurgence since then in certain areas but I wonder how property values are going to be though going forward. Many first world birth rates are extremely low and only going down. I don't see, for example, refugees in Europe or immigration in the US propping that up.

On top of that, since the 60s (in the US), you had an exponential growing total credit market debt (TCMD) which fueled the housing bubbles throughout the decades. TCDM has been stagnant on linear growth the last decade. TCDM is measure of all debts in the US from national to municipal to private. What I basically mean, is that investors aren't hot on giving the US population more debt money so people can have increasingly bigger mortgages - also note that wage increases generally don't happen anymore to any sizable amount.

There's always movement and location, location, location (rural places are being abandoned in greater numbers around the 1st world so there's that) changing which is good for flipping houses if you know how, but I'm skeptical of holding real estate long term anymore as a source to big growth.
