INTRO

This post may seem like common sense to a lot of you, but this stuff needs to be said.

Every addiction (with the exception of physical addictions) is the same. And every addiction can be conquered by mastering one thing. Discipline.

BODY

Fapping, weed, TV, video games, etc. All have their own negative effects when you let them get out of hand. But in moderation they’re fuckin harmless.

The ‘superpowers’ you see when you abstain are a result of you not getting those harmful effects anymore. You only get those harmful effects if you let yourself get addicted. NOT if you keep the activity in moderation.

Use your common sense to tell if your addicted. If you smoke weed everyday, you’re probably addicted. If you fap everyday, you’re probably addicted. If you watch TV all day, you’re probably addicted. If anything begins to take over your life in a harmful way you’re probably addicted to it.

Anyone can get addicted to anything if they let it get out of hand. Once you are addicted you have to break that addiction by not doing that certain thing for a little while. Then you can go back and do it in moderation.

Any addiction is bad for you and your goals. That’s a fact. I don’t give a fuck what it is. Break any addiction you have. Living well requires balance.

You just have to build discipline. Once you build the discipline to not let addictions arise, that’s when you can start participating in activities once in a while and in moderation.

The thing is, most people don’t have that discipline, so they blame the activity they’re addicted to for the lack of control they have over themselves. They adopt the idea that doing that activity at all means the end of the world. Just look at the NoFap sub and tell me that isn’t proof.

“But I get addicted to stuff easier! I have an addictive personality!”

I get it. People with addictive personalities have a lower threshold and resistance to forming addictions so it’s much easier to get addicted to something. You’re responsible for recognizing if you’re this type of person and calibrating how often you can participate in an activity without getting addicted to it.

If you would rather not do something at all because you’re sure you’ll fall into addiction, more power to you. But I’m telling you that it just isn’t a realistic goal to set for most people who want to live fun, social lives. Most of us want to smoke weed with friends. Most of us want to fap once in a while. Most of us want to watch movies and TV. It’s just about self control and not letting things get out of hand.

CONCLUSION

It’s really fucking simple. Addictions are all the same (with the exception of physical addictions, those are completely different
