Really simple, it is all smoke and mirrors, so don't play the game. Every system has alphas and betas. For the alphas to lead they need a justification. 300+ years ago, the alpha was King because he was appointed by some God. Now days for the west, they have this democracy excuse. Under the communist system, Mao and Stalin didn't have any more property then the average guy, but they needed a big palace to help look after the people's property.

Basically democracy in the west is designed to keep you distracted and thing you make a difference. Figure out how it works and how to use it to your advantage.

Vox Day in his "SJW Always Lie" brings up a good point in how there are 2 forms of argument. Dialectical and Rhetorical. Dialectical meaning you investigate the topic thoroughly in a cooperative and logical manner. Rhetoric ignores logic and makes appeals to emotions. Don't back up your points or even worry about making sense, just stay calm and make your opponent look bad.

Basically when someone argues like that they aren't using logic so you don't have to either. Maintain frame and assert your point.

Its a different way of communicating that you probably are used to and it might feel kinda silly but its a good skill to have. Watch politicians sway crowds to see it in effect.

You sound like you haven't been getting your Monthly Patriachy cheques OP. Check with your local Patriachy office and make sure your address details are correct.

But in all seriousness the argument is that if all the leaders are White Males, then you as a White Male must benefit from this somehow.

While this isn't true directly, it may be true to some degree indirectly. If you look the part, people will treat you the part. In RPG gaming parlance, it's a passive bonus to a trait. The actual size of this bonus is up for debate.

In answer to your question, there is no argument against it because the people using that are not looking for answers, they are wielding it as a weapon.

If you must though, ask them what the power structures are and how do you specifically benefit from them.

It can't be done. SJW bullshit is not logic based, and logic will not defeat it. It's a self-entitled victim myth in order to get something for the purported victim.

Here's an easier example or two: the wage gap. debunked. still claimed as fact. rape culture. debunked. still claimed as fact.

The implication is that doors are always open for white men, and closed to anyone else. Therefore white men owe everyone else something to compensate for their privelege. (Obviously women are entitled to their own privelege, that's different, ok!!?!??!)

Men are better at getting promoted and earning money. They don't take time out for personal projects.... sorry, children. They are motivated by money, work harder and work better.

re white - this is partly historical (blacks started not many generations ago at somewhat of a disadvantage due to being enslaved, and the prejudice and economic disadvantage ripples down the generations). But also... the majority race in the West is white.

The problem with "power structure" is that it's a non-specific argument. You point out that the majority of men are legally beholden through marriage and children to women, and the SJW's will screech "that's different!". They'll claim it's social power, or corporate power, or ... etc. Whatever it takes to win the victimocracy.

How to address it? Make the argument specific before you start (what TYPE of power structure? how is it maintained? who benefits, who loses?), and only engage logically with someone who will actually listen (ie is motivated by truth rather than feelings and personal gain).

Easiest thing to do in the US is remind the SJW's that women are the significant majority of voters in the US. If they don't like who is in charge, they should vote for someone else. That usually shuts them up.

Arguing with SJWs is a HUGE waste of time. Their philosophy is unnatural and completely based on lies, which they will double down on because....FEELZ! So why bother? Plus 99.99% are totally un-bangable. Avoid.

i have never heard this argument, and i've been in "left" circles for some time. if you could link to an example, that would be helpful.

that, in general, can be empirically demonstrated, but i suppose depends on how you define "places of power." a legitimate criticism could be "well, the governments of china, india, ... any non-US and non-european government is dominated by non-white men."

IMO, it's easier to explain, say the last 50 years, especially with the republican party, the strategic alliance between the extremely wealthy and socially conservative. it's not so much that the rich, a majority of whom are white men, hate and actively oppress women, racial minorities, and non-gender conforming people, they simply don't care about them, and if opressing them get's them what they want they'll do that.

There are a lot of power structures so it helps to know which one you are talking about. At the top you have money and much of it is old money. Multi-generational wealth in the US is pretty much European Americans (white). New wealth (entrepreneur class) is a bit more diverse.

Over time we will see a more diverse genetic mix as to multi-generational wealth. We are also moving towards a more complex class system with regards to income and influence.

Now if you want to talk about power structure at colleges, churches, media etc. that's another story.

SJW's speak of power structures of those who are not their demographic. As they are often from a smaller subculture within society this gives them a large base to draw from. I will assume as you are posting here you are referring to the tumblr femminist types. So here are categories of those who can or do make up this structure according to them-

Men
People of European decent
Anyone who works for the government or large sector businesses (finance, healthcare etc.)
Anyone who is part of management in almost any operation (the president\dean of their college for instance)

If you start adding it up you get about 70-80% of the population being some part of the "Power Structure". And since the odds are about 4 out of 5 whenever a setback occurs someone from that power structure will be a part of it that give the SJW the idea that there is a vast network arrayed against them. The simple fact is that there is a small group of people that think as they do, and a larger group that either disagrees or is apathetic to their cause.

I suspect this is in regard to the US society.

The logical fallacy in the "power structure" argument is that it generalizes characteristics of people in position of power (white males) as THE characteristics that give them the power. The best evidence of that is that whites makes the majority of poor people in the US (there are proportionally more black people that are poor, but there are more white poor than black poor), so white is definitely not a characteristic of power in the US, unlike it was in say South Africa during Apartheid. As for males, well, same thing: they consist of the same percentage of prisoners as of board members, ie, 90%. You don't see feminists campaign to increase the number of female prisoners do you?

Every white male sharing a privilege due to the fact that people in power in the US are mostly white males is like saying that every female shares the privilege of pregnant women because pregnant women are strictly female. So it is as ridiculous to accuse every white male, including the poor sobs in trailer parks, of having a privilege, as it is to say that every female can cut in line a the supermarket because every person having the pregnant privilege is a female...
