Summary - a short parable my first boxing coach told me, on the mindset of a warrior/predator.

My first boxing coach posed this query to me, and asked me to answer:

"Suppose you are in a dark parking lot, and a guy is eyeing you up, wondering how much money you have on you. As a predator, what should you be thinking?"

Take a moment, before reading on, and decide on your own response.

My answer was a brash: "I'm a trained fighter, I'm not afraid of him."

My coach then said:

"You should be wondering how much money HE has on HIM"

Lesson learned: A predator's mindset is not defensive in the face of a threat.

edit - many of you are missing the point - it's not meant to be taken literally.

double edit - maybe this example will make it more clear: I taught my boxers that often the best way to stop getting punched is to punch THEM.
