There's a well known Gandhi quote that goes something like this, "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win." Back then TRP was at the ignored stage, now its at the laughed at stage. As we're slowly winning (gaining traction), its not too farfetched for some people to worry that we might be close to the fight stage as TRP becomes an increasing target for attack.

A shutdown validates our worldview, it would show that we truly are thought criminals to the established order. In a way, I think some people weirdly fantasize about it because it could actually give us more influence, provided the community stays organized and coherent in the aftermath. There is almost an air of excitement about the possibility of a shutdown and I think its for this reason.
