Hundreds of Red Pill veterans read that and collectively said "No shit, Sherlock." This post isn't for you. This post is for the new guy. The one who just followed a link posted by a hateful feminist in twoX. This is for the guy wondering if he should swallow TRP. This is for the guy who thinks it all sounds nice in theory, but doesn't really sound like him.
When I discovered TRP, I was a Grade-A Beta and an All-Star AFC.
That's not to say I'm now the most alpha dog on the planet, but I'm now significantly happier than I was. Was it painful? Yes. Did it hurt? Yes. Am I still going through the anger and depression? Yes. However...is it worth it? Fuck yes.
Anyways...when I discovered TRP, I was in a LTR with a girl for about three years. I laughed at everyone's submissions, because they had not found true love like I had. Oh...those poor saps. They didn't know how rewarding it was to know a women truly loved you with every fiber of her being. But I kept reading. Things started to click. Things sounded familiar. I became addicted to reading more; I had to find the flaw in their system to validate the past three years of my life. Then I started paying attention to my own relationship. How many times had my lady come out to one of my hockey games? Only once in three years because "the game was boring." How many times had I gone out to help and support her during one of her photo shoots (which were the most painful experiences ever)? I'm not even going to say; the number is embarrassingly large.
Point is, I started realizing I was making a lot of sacrifices while I didn't feel like she was making any. I even tried the blue pill way of solving it and I talked to her. I said I wanted her to come to my hockey games and my work functions. I wanted her to support me and the things I did and loved if she wanted me to still do the same for her. She declined, saying my passions were "stupid, barbaric silly boy things."
I'd like to say I kicked her out then, but that would be a lie.
This continued for a couple of months. I'd tell her I was going out with the guys after our game, or I'd be playing poker down at the club and won't leave in the middle of a hot streak because she was feeling lonely. I still encouraged her to have her nights out with her friends, but I made it clear that I would not allow my nights out with my mates to be compromised. Hell, I continued to ask her to come out with us, but she continued to decline.
This "erratic change in my behavior" led to many fights, her accusing me of cheating on her, me being an asshole and so on and so forth. Eventually, that relationship ended. It sucked, but looking back it was for the better.
So...if you're looking through this stuff and thinking "That all sounds good and all, but that's not who I am, I don't want to swallow the Red Pill" then just open your eyes. Look at your own life and, if you realize things are fucked up and you aren't being the engine of your own life, then welcome to the fold, brother. You've already swallowed the Red Pill.
You're in for one hell of a journey, but you'll come out a real man.
