I was just pondering on this, and thought I'd share my thoughts, for whatever they might be worth to anyone. Nothing in my life exemplifies my transformation better than my reaction to True Blood on HBO then and now.

When it first came out, I was "Team Bill" all the way. Bill was a true old school gentleman. He got up in the middle of the day and flung himself into the sun and almost burned himself to a crisp to save Sookie. That's love. Swoon. I was annoyed with all the female fans blathering about Eric. Eric hadn't earned Sookie, Bill had, if there was any fairness and justice in the world. Go go blue pill power!

Fast forward a few years, putting me on the other side of a major paradigm shift. I'm still watching the show out of habit, but my perspective is totally different now. Sookie is a slut riding the cock carousel, and the whole storyline is really about empowering women to slut it up and bang lots of hot guys without suffering any consequences, which is what all the old fat women watching this thing fantasize about. First, they can't get guys like that, and second, they want to live in a world without consequences for women.

Sacrificing for a woman is never going to get a man anywhere but used, so Bill was a damn fool instead of a noble and gallant hero. Women instinctively appreciated this, which is why most of the fans advocating for Bill were blue pill men like me, and most of the fans blathering about Eric and then Alcide were women. Women are great self-promoters though, and they're quick to point out all the negative things about the new and more "evil" Bill, because it benefits them to live in a world where blue pill suckers believe throwing themselves under a bus for their benefit is how to win their fairy princess hearts.

The behind the scenes thing they did this season showing the actors off set was a trip too. Yeah, the guy who plays Alcide is really banging some gigantic obese black woman who sent him fan tweets, because she was that special and they totally hit it off. Riiiiight. Fans wish, which makes a pile of money for HBO.

I see the same sort of thing everywhere else I look too. Hollywood is full of this crap. It's no wonder most men have no idea what is real and what is false.
