You ever notice how most dialogues about "open relationships" of sorts are started by a woman who already is or who has made up her mind about cheating because she wants to have her cake and eat it too with the whole AFBB arrangement? It's a pretty common thread with these kinds of stories. Usually the woman isn't so brazen as to try it after she gets caught out on cheating, which says a lot about what she thinks about her husband here.

I've known a couple guys who were dumb or pathetic or whatever you may think enough to go along with the suggestion and the arrangement was really that were being de facto cuckolded, and it pretty much destroyed them. One of them I ended up talking into getting rid of her and I had to just let the other one go because it seemed no amount of telling him what was really going on would convince him, no matter how miserable he was.

Of course it seems most of the posters even in /r/polyamory are calling it like it is like I am, that this started by the woman cheating on him and she's just looking for a convenient way to continue fucking this guy while having a dutiful doormat continue subsidizing her life.

Regardless, even if the linked post is pure fiction, the responses are horrifying. Rather than saying, "Holy FUCK, dude! We support polyamory, but you are being trampled by some fucked up people," they give him encouragement, peppered with some mild warnings.

It seems like a gigantic leap to go from semi-illicit affairs to "polyandry" all in the course of a few months. Perhaps the more prudent path would be to allow the visit (and make sure you have plenty of support from nearby friends during this time in case you need to clear your head for whatever reason), then progress much more slowly for another year or so. Life is long. She's chomping at the bit because she's had plenty of time to get used to and long for the living arrangement. It sounds like you could use a bit more time to get used to the water. Otherwise, good luck, stay cool, and remember that there are literally hundreds of thousands of happy, practicing poly people and millions more who are sympathetic to the cause.

It was no bloody surprise, because both of them were beta as fuck - not dominating woman, letting hamster run the show and deprecating their own self-interests by agreeing to this ridiculous arrangement only woman's-let-loose-imagination could think of.

Each of them was a fitness test for the other, and one that would have demonstrated more alpha (by sticking more to his own interests!) could have her satisfied for himself - presuming he remained at least a bit attractive after huge devaluation that happened.

If he haven't said that wife and he don't meet new people easily - I would have predicted wife to be riding third-man (random alpha dude) in few weeks after the polyandry experiment, shortly after her happiness dwindles mysteriously.
