Fighting for muh homeland has always been a retarded concept. You're basically giving your life up so that you 'protect & preserve' the values, culture, tradition, ethnicity of your people etc. but at the end of the day all those things end up changing eventually due to other factors... So you basically ended up dying for nothing. It's especially stupid if you're going into War overmatched.

My grandfather's generation fought against Italian and German invasions during WW2 so that his own people had a land where they could practice their own traditions, culture, values, language and didn't just get incorporated into one of those two countries. Fast forward two/three generations, half of the my neighbors are foreigners because of immigration, most of the companies have been bought up by multi-national corporations, the national culture has been pushed into the background in favor of globalization, social media and rainbow flags... People are using English more than their native language, women have gone rogue in pursuit of global trends and hypergamy...The pay is worse than if Hitler took over too...

Also, Ukraine is a strategic haven in terms of war strategy for either side of the conflict between Nato and Russia and its allies. Regardless of the moral implications thereof, I would have invaded Ukraine too, and much sooner. The country is simply positioned in such a way as to grant massive advantages to either Russia or nato if all out war were to break out between the two, depending on who the Ukrainian government is inclined to support.

For any country joining NATO means abiding by the rule that if any NATO member is attacked by any non NATO entity, it will be considered an attack on all NATO members, and thus ALL NATO MEMBERS MUST ASSIST IN THE DEFENCE OF THE ATTACKED MEMBER AND THE SUBJUGATION OF THE OUTSIDE AGGRESSOR.

This means that considering the strategic advantage Ukraine would Give NATO were is to join NATO, which in recent years it has been rapidly moving towards, Russia cannot allow Ukraine to join NATO under any circumstances.

The logic is that if Russia invades now it has a good chance of avoiding retaliation from NATO alliance since Ukraine is not yet a NATO member. Whereas if Russia were to wait until after Ukraine joins NATO and respect that decision since Ukraine is a sovereign nation, then Russia would put themselves in a great strategic disadvantage in the name of "doing the right thing."

In all truth, I think that Putins decision to invade and assert himself on the world stage was a demonstration of strong leadership, a tough decision. That had to be made. I would have done the same.

This doesn't apply here because she is likely with the Nigerian since before the war, but its likely Ucranian girls will increasingly date only foreigners, why date an Ukrainian? they will die, or get wounded.
