Who Pays for Dinner?

I pay for lunch/dinner roughly 80% of the time. I never feel like I should be paid back in any way. I'm happy to provide this small service which avoids the awkwardness of asking for money once the bill comes. Being slightly better off than her may be a factor as to why I am sometimes adamant about paying, but the second she expects or demands I pay is the second I stop paying for her.

Say we have dinner after the concert that she paid for... She will say offhand something like 'well with this $30 meal, you're only $20 away from paying off that concert ticket i bought.'

That sounds like she feels entitled.

I go generally half, as the financial situation is often a canary in the coal mine for the way she feels about you. If you stick to an approximately 50/50 split on activities and notice either of you becoming reluctant spenders, it often signals that it's time to move on.

My "rule" is every 3 to 5 dates with a girl, I'll 'suggest' she make us a dinner at her place. It reinforces the preferable gender relationship and has the same effect of making her pay. It also weed's out feminists.

I ALWAYS pay. If I'm with a female friend or colleague, I always try to pay. Sometimes a girl will get edgy, like she's concerned I might be putting her in a position to "owe" me. Then I tell her she can pay "next time." Which of course she rarely does.

The exception is when I'm out with Hot Lawyer Girlfriend. She always buys. LOL.
