It's a common misconception that women hate beta traits. Women fucking LOVE beta traits... with one important caveat.

Women love beta traits only when manifested by an alpha, like handsome/famous/rich pop stars. Only then does his supplication have value.

See: Russell Brand

[–]icallmyselfmonster 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Pretty much this. I am attractive , getting wealthier, 30's with high smv. On the autistic spectrum with just about no game. A bit better than my 20s. Before I used to apologize for my awkwardness, but now I simply don't care what people think. Stopped going out to clubs to go on the pull but yup l to go with my friends and get wrecked.

And it's working, it works even better if I show no interest at all (which is usually genuine). I have a friend who is a musician. When he is on stage he will have 9+ approach him. When we go out, out of town to clubs and he tries to dance with girls he gets pushed away.

[–]tumbleweedss 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I never would have guessed people on the spectrum would be drawn to this place.

[–][deleted] 46 points47 points48 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

It's the best of both worlds. They are satisfying the need to be with a wealthy/powerful guy and they act like the betas they talk about liking.

[–]Modredpillschool 33 points34 points35 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Basically, this. Women have a dual mating strategy, lovingly referred to as alpha fucks; beta bucks. Getting both in one is a jackpot.

  1. Good looking
  2. Preselected by millions of young women hotter than the girl in question
  3. Wealthy
  4. "Talented"
  5. Singing songs that properly mix bluepill and estrogen into a lovely stew

[–]12FAM0US 47 points48 points49 points 12 years ago (27 children) | Copy Link

high status. it has little to do with sensitivity. women just wanna be with someone FAM0US ;)

[–]RedSunBlue 11 points12 points13 points 12 years ago* (19 children) | Copy Link

I'm downvoting this answer because it's a bit tautological.

Women like high status men. Sensitive singers are high status.

But are sensitive singers high status because women like them?

How did these sensitive singers get their status to begin with?

Why did the sensitive singer-songwriter/womanizer combo become so common in the first place?

[–]TRP VanguardHumanSockPuppet 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

How did these sensitive singers get their status to begin with?

I suspect it has something to do with the way these boy bands and sensitive singers were marketed. It's their carefully constructed and stylized images, the way they are shown to the public, the other forms of art that they are associated with, etc.

By contrast, think about how many self-starting internet musicians you know of who became famous using solely their sensitive music schitck, without the might and majesty of a record label to build their marketing machine for them. Comparatively few.

Don DeLillo tells us a parable about a farmer who owned a tract of land that was just off a main highway. A lot of tourists in the area would accidentally drive onto his property thinking they were going the right way. Eventually, he joked with one family that came by, saying that his barn was the most photographed barn in America.

Well, word got around, and people started showing up to photograph The Most Photographed Barn in America. Pretty soon, it really was the most photographed barn in America. The farmer, being an enterprising man, set up a souvenir kiosk and charged people admission, and never had to grow another tomoato for the rest of his days.

[–]Dream4eva 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is the key here.

What happens is that these people are marketed on a large scale as being surrounded and desired by women. A couple of film clips here, talk shows with attractive women there and that's all it takes.

Think about if you were merely a microcosm of this in your own social circle. You would be known as a relatable and social adept male who hangs out with attractive females regularly and they are seen as yearning over you. Think of the affect that would have on the women around you.

But how does that get started? There has to be something that convinces the first 20,000 people to spend money.

[–]Terry_Bruce_Dick 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Money spent on marketing only works if they know they have a product that will sell... now given that the formula is a known success.... we kinda have a chicken/egg situation. Can we find the initial boy-band example?

[–]I_put_mukmuk_on_face 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

MAYBE THE INITIAL BOY BAND MADE IT BECAUSE THEY HAD ACTUAL SINGING TALENT AND THEN EVERYONE STARTED TO COPY IT UNTIL THE QUALITY OF THE MUSIC DIMINISHED AND IT BECAME ALL ABOUT THE BAND.

im scared that it took this goddamn long to find out.

[–]Terry_Bruce_Dick 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's possible. Both Elvis and the Beatles were very talented. I dunno. Was Sinatra talented? I think so, but that might be arguable.

[–]dropit_sphere 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]tcjoyc11 -4 points-3 points-2 points 12 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

They practice their instrument/vocal skills and bust their ass becoming an exceptional musician/performer and then climb their way to the top? They achieve their high status and fan base because they're good at what they do, not because women love them.

[–]Terry_Bruce_Dick 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

If you think Justin Beiber got where his is because he busted his ass...

[–]Thradya 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yes.

[–]Terry_Bruce_Dick 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Really?

[–]Thradya 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Oh come on, just because you don't like his music (no one should really), it doesn't mean that doing what he does is easy. It's not.

So yeah, I do think that beside being backed by money and being basically "engineered" to sell, achieveing this kind of fame requires busting ones ass.

[–]Terry_Bruce_Dick 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You said it. He was an engineered product. He was born with a phenotype that made it possible, and he did work to learn to sing. But that separates him from the million other acceptable candidates that weren't chosen how? He certainly wasn't chosen for his acumen, or his upstanding morals.

[–]Clauderoughly 10 points11 points12 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I agree with this.

I used to work around Dj's and musicians and basically all the women want to fuck them because they are famous.

The more famous (and therefore higher status), the more they want to fuck them.

[–]captainedship2 10 points11 points12 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It also has heavily to do with the "brunch factor"

Since women have such ample access to sex, they can never brag about it because it's as easy as beating a 10 year old in basketball. But a famous guy is worth bragging about, and they want that attention, only increasing her attraction to him.

It's sort of sick and narcissistic.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Good reasoning. However, having sex to brag about is what everyone wants, but women have also historically benefitted most from partnering up with high status males. These are most guaranteed to keep their women and children safe and secure resources for them.

[–]12FAM0US 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

they start young too. im on instagram and every other account is female age 12-15 in some way devoted to Bustin Jieber or 1Erection or other (questionably) male celebrity. another third of the accounts are female age 11-17 and at least mention Bieber in the bio. its insane these girls name their entire account after them. these are young girls so its pure primal instinct at that point. hypergamy to the extreme. boys that age just want a pair of tits, they could care less whose lol

[–]Clauderoughly 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

they start young too.

Ahh I remember back in the day...

It's always been like this.

Damn kids... get off my lawn !

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Then macho singers should outcompete sensitive singers.

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points15 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Why do you think Drake went from talking shit about bitches to relating to them?

Fame and Success are incredible tools, but they're also scary to women because women know if THEY'RE attracted to it this way then so is every other woman.

So a little feigned sensitivity, some faux-relateability, and BOOM.

It's called contrast, push pull, and it works wonders.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

His new album is so emotional!

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

each album gets more and more emotional.

he's the only rapper women can "actually relate to" and he knows it because each album sells more and more records.

Pop Culture is not for men.

[+]Sunny_McJoyride -8 points-7 points-6 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Also you can try genuine sensitivity and relatability.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

why would i do that when faking it is easier and works even better?

women know these men aren't that sensitive. biggest secret every guy knows: women like being lied to.

[–]Opioidus 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, some doped up rocker with daddy issues and a walking, talking DMS with ten STDs is genuinely sensitive and ''relatable'' to bitches, as long as other bitches want to fuck him and other men want to be him.

[–]dropit_sphere 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is a question that deserves a thoughtful, complete answer.

[–]slcjosh 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Its not the voice, its the status. Voice is just a bonus for them.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well, remember that the target audience skews way younger, the main market for them is girls going through puberty, who are going to have different tastes from adult women. Also, only some members of a boy band are sensitive sweet (the bad boy, the shy one, the young one, the older brother type, and the heart throb are listed on wikipedia as the tropes for these bands) That said: Mass preselection reinforced by marketing campaigns, physical attractiveness, singing talent (in terms of what teen girls want), lyrics that reflect their realities/fantasies and are constantly addressing the listener...

So it's a big mix. In some cases, their parents attempt to prohibit them from listening to it due to highly sexual lyrics, so there is a forbidden fruit aspect.

[–]zipzo 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think this questions is more about the older women that like these bands.

[–]redditeando 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Your question reminded me of this guy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijr4rwb2WbE&feature=youtube_gdata_player

[–]ryeprotagonist 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

partly it's the high status, sought afterness of the pop idol...

but also those sappy balads (like fairy tales with princesses) reinforce female primacy within women's hindbrains.

they basically confirm that part of a woman's psyche which is telling her that men should pedestalize them and treat them with the worship that a person who has a vagina deserves.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Now the complex theory: alpha behaving beta. One of the two major female reproductive strategies. If you just watch a Justin Bieber interview, don't you get the impression of a "bad boy acting nice" kind? The guy does not lack confidence, presence or charisma, to the contrary. He is more like forcing himself to play it soft. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XSEi1jTR58

You see the bitter pill is that this is true the other way around too. Beta guy playing hard usually comes accross as a wannabee pretender, a try-hard. I guess most young readers will face this kind of problem at some point. Yet, faking it till you make it is a valid way, it's just part of the deal that certain periods of the faking it will look like a try-hard.

[–]rim_trabajo 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Here is my take on it:

Its not women that are attracted to these guys. It's young pre or mid pubescent girls. You will notice the past and present Bieber types are always somewhat feminine looking and not in any way 'alpha' other than social status and notoriety. It gives young girls a very safe and non threatening way to explore their attraction and budding sexuality. You'll notice that once these girls get to 18-20 years old, they are no longer longing after this type of guy.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have multiple theories, first the simple one: have you noticed how women love gay men singers? My mom: Richard Clayderman, Freddie Mercury. Women of my age (thirties): Ricky Martin. Copa la Vida is about as irresistible to women as Prodigy - Firestarter to men.

I think it is not a sexual attraction but the sympathy between similarly "ticking" brains.

Makes me wonder why there aren't Girl Bands that young teenage boys lust after?

Too busy whacking it to xhamster.com.

[–]through_a_ways 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because male attraction is more physical and less emotional.

And because male attraction is more intrinsic, less extrinsic.

[–]TRP VanguardHumanSockPuppet -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Makes me wonder why there aren't Girl Bands that young teenage boys lust after?

Because men don't care about a woman's status.

We only care about how we experience her company. Is she feminine? Is she sweet? Sympathetic? Nurturing? Playful?

Will she take it in the stink on the first date?

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Fame trumps all. Fame is high value - that is basically a tautology. And then, you have the emotion factor. A common old school idea in pickup was attraction = higher value + emotion. Hate it or love it, boy bands are concentrated emotion (even if its whiny bitch emotion) and concentrated high value (girl knows her friends will be sooooo jealous if she hooks up with the latest pop hearthrob).

Money and power, plus fame. It's quite simple really.
