wanna get over your social anxiety? Put yourself out there into social situations. Wanna get pussy but too scared to make the moves to do it? Make the moves. Super simple. And you can have as many excuses as you want and tell me how it isn't that simple, but it doesn't change the fact that it is and you're just rationalizing your way out of getting out of your comfort zone because you secretly LIKE it.

[–]Primemale1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is very true, I too used to suffer from social anxiety, and although many things will 'alleviate' it, the BEST thing is the advice above that will get RID of it because your brain will realise that the world is not that scary after all and even if it is, it's a MAN's job to impose his will onto the world and then things happen. Tip to OP: start small in your interactions and build up, if your social anxiety is really as bad as you say, then make goals like: 1)have 5 positive interactions with people this week. But don't procrastinate on the same thing for too long, the secret is pushing the comfort zone, hell this is the secret for everything in life, getting jacked, getting rich, getting proficient at a skill etc.Just know that if you don't get out of this state of mind YOU WILL be a beta forever and make no mistake that is what you are, unless you break out of the cycle.

[–]evileddy23 points24 points25 points 11 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

Have you tried escorts? Seriously. Not hookers.. an escort.

Might as well pay them to practice your sex moves.

Think of it as going to the gym.. for your dick.

[–]laere2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

So many upsides to escorts.

[–]Jojonounee2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You think so? Everytime I ordered one I specifically asked for blonde/nice body/big boobs. Realistically I didn't expect to get a model to show up, but what actually showed up was way beyond anything worth wasting your time on. And since the girl is already at your home, most of the time dropped off by their boyfriend, they make you pay no matter what. The whole vibe is also really bad, but that's just my experience. I'd choose hookers over escort in any situation.

[–]TRP VanguardtrpSenator0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You get what you pay for. 150 dollar escorts are going to be those doing whatever it takes to pay for their meth addiction.

[–]evileddy0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's a good point.... the best situation is at a brothel.. where you can see the woman you want and walk up and start talking to her.. that simulates the most real experience.. minus paying for it after...but that's not that far fetched either.

[–]escortbrah4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

i think you need to practice a bit before you can even go to an escort. i tried it and she stayed with me 40 minutes over the hour and i couldnt get hard the whole time and we just gave up

[–]evileddy9 points10 points11 points 11 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Isn't that better than a plate who would tell all her friends you couldn't get it up?

[–]escortbrah7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

yea of course it is. if you make a certain amount of money wouldnt it not even be worth your time to have plates? cant you just fuck escorts all day if you were wealthy as fuck?

[–]evileddy7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I'm well off but not wealthy.. I just banked as much money as I could and never had any interest in having kids or getting married or even living with a girlfriend.

200 bucks for an hour for guaranteed sex is cheap compared to how much time it takes to setup a plate for sex.

And since escorts make money off their vaginas.. they are very aware of STD's and check you out before they touch you... you EVER had a woman you just picked up stop and lift your balls and dick around checking for sores or warts? No.... some barslut doesn't give a fuck if she gives you herpes.. but if an escort gets something she can't make as much money.

[–]escortbrah6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

ive thought of that after reading a lot of this. if you make past a certain amount of money trying to get plates wouldnt even be worth the time and effort it takes because the time can be spent some where else. instead you can just fuck different escorts whenever you needed. ive never had a plate but id assume that it wouldnt be as convenient as if you just saw escorts, i think a plate can fuck you over in many ways where the escort is straight upfront about everything and does exactly what you need.

[–]evileddy-1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Now you are getting it! You can't just walk into a grocery store and point to a woman and be fucking her in an hour... I mean it's possible.. that's a great goal to shoot for, definitely.

But if you have little sexual experience with women and manage to get one to sex up.. she's going to know.. and all her friends are going to know.. and if you are friends with anybody in her circle.. they will know.

Escorts are discrete and just keep your mouth shut if someone asks you about it.

Your first time is going to be scary.. but read up on the proper way to act and prepare ( ex. have some washcloths near the bed, don't let her close the door to the washroom, put the money on the table don't hand it to her, don't be afraid to give her 50 bucks and say "Yer not the girl in the pictures" and show her the pictures and ask her to leave.. give her 50 so she doesn't throw a shit fit )

backpage.com is a good starting place

[–]escortbrah1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

oh i saw a good one on the erotic review. i only saw an escort or attempted to have sex once. i dont know why i couldnt get hard i wasnt nervous or anything and i didnt jack off for a while. i read that it happens the first time if you have little sexual experience. the escort said since its my first time and with a complete stranger that stuff happens and often shes seen it before. id say it was still worth it but before i want to see more i want to make sure i can get hard next time

[–]evileddy0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

See.. she was nice to you.. that's good business..

Imagine not getting it up with a plate.. she'd get FURIOUS and not even think about your feelings.. it would damage her ego and she'd want to hurt you.

[–]widec2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I suppose it depends on the person. If you have a high sex drive, you will probably get erect from just holding her if you haven't fapped for a few days. I've never had trouble getting erect myself, except for when I take stimulants.

[–]escortbrah2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

im only 21 shouldnt my sex drive be through the roof?

Vitamins "C" and "V" are easily available and should help. You shouldn't need them more than once or twice - provided you stay away from porn.

[–]blacwidonsfw-1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Have fun with that. Idk why you would ever pay for sex, that is pathetic. 90% of the thrill is the excitement of the chase, plus it's fucking disgusting to fuck some chick where all she does is fuck guys for money.

[–]evileddy1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Have to start somewhere. If you have never cold approached a woman and you know your sex skills are terrible... might as well practice on a woman that is only there for the money.

You could date someone and train on them but that's not how to treat people.

plus it's fucking disgusting to fuck some chick where all she does is fuck guys for money.

That's your moral issue.. not mine. In my eyes ALL women do this in some form, money, fame, resources... at least escorts are honest about it.

[–]cascadecombo29 points30 points31 points 11 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

I think monk mode is best for me so I can learn to separate my self worth from pussy.

Waste of your time, fucking waste of your time.

Do what a smart person would do, if you want to get over anxiety. Not only with women, put yourself in that situation more frequently until you are normalized to it.

http://rejectiontherapy.com/rules/

Try challenging yourself instead of running away, pussy. You will reap the rewards of your new found boldness in several aspects of life.

[–]mahlzeit8 points9 points10 points 11 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

I know you mean well, but this is actually bad advice if given unconditionally.

Especially with severe anxiety you can get to a point where this normalization won't happen anymore (it's called HPA axis dysregulation). One well known example for this is PTSD. Exposure to the stressor won't necessarily help in this case, it's very likely to make the person even worse, since he's re-traumatizing himself. You can't simply throw a vet with PTSD back into combat until he's "fixed." And this dysregulation can happen with much more minor threats than combat, too. It all depends on the person at the time of the traumatizing event.

What you need to do first in this case is to get back to some sort of healthy stress response before you can start exposing yourself to stress and adversity. Big factors in recovery are taking rational control over the inner critic and the emotional flashbacks. Because you won't react to the world rationally any more, so you can't learn from exposure to the threat that it isn't so bad. Do you see what I mean? If you react rationally, then it's fine. "I've dealt with this situation 10 times and I'm fine, so it's not that bad." But if you can't react rationally anymore then this realization can't happen. You will go ape shit every time you encounter the stressor, regardless of how often you've done it in the past and how well you've survived it. You'll always trigger the fight-or-flight response. This won't help.

Once you're back to seeing the world and its threats more or less rationally again, then you can work with exposure therapy, and then it will work fine. It all depends on how severe the anxiety is in the first place. It's probably hard to imagine this if you've never experienced it yourself, but I can tell you from my own experience that exposure therapy didn't really do much for me with my particular anxiety, and it's only since I've started to learn about this stuff that I'm making actual progress.

[–]2 Senior Endorsed Contributorvengefully_yours5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

There is a distinction you're missing, throwing the combat veteran with ptsd back into combat doesn't fix anything, it's a survival mechanism that keeps him alive by being hypervigilant, going into fight rather than flight when thats triggered, and bringing overwhelming force to the threat no matter how insignificant the threat actually is has kept humans alive. The problem arises when there is no threat or danger to anyone, because the mechanism doesn't shut off, it's activated and always on. So he is constantly scanning for threats, the fight or flight is easily activated for very minor things, and the overwhelming aggression to minor threats causes problems because he might beat the shit out of someone who acted like a threat did before. Guess how I know.

Putting him back in combat doesn't work, because its dangerous and thus the mechanism is doing it's job. However learning how to deal with the mechanism in a peaceful low or no threat environment means he has to rewire some things in his mind. One thing that works great is flooding, watching movies that remind you, but are different than your experience helps. I found first person shooter video games make a big difference in making new memories that don't have an emotional marker attached. It's exposure to the same or similar stimulus without the danger, you can get up and go make a sandwich, or stop and do something else, where in combat you are stuck there until the engagement is over.

There is no danger talking to girls, other than bullshit accusations they can make that get you in legal trouble. A rejection isn't going to kill you. Having anxiety about talking to girls is extremely low threat, and any threat is all in your mind. The best way to get over a fear of rejection is to be rejected. Go out, talk to hundreds of girls, say something ludicrous that most will reject, and get to where it's effortless to say anything to girls.

His anxiety is due to inexperience, not due to facing a volatile dangerous situation. It's a girl, she sits to piss, she shits like everyone else, and she has so much insecurity and anxiety about talking to men that she won't approach anyone. How the fuck can you be intimidated by that? Easy, you haven't done it enough. Do it more ahd remove the apprehension you have about girls.

You're the prize, she isn't. That's what OP needs to understand and implement. She isn't dangerous, she is scared and easily intimidated, she is weak and unable to overcome her anxiety.

[–]mahlzeit1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

It's really funny ... I wrote a reply only to realize at the very end that I'm just talking about the meaning of words.

Because: the trigger for the fight-flight response doesn't have to be an external situation. It can be an internal emotion or a certain state of mind. This is especially true for children who come out of abusive families or were raised by narcissistic parents, for example. If you learn as a child that you need to walk on eggshells to prevent a beating/abandonment/etc., then you will take a neurosis or two with you into adulthood.

And that's why for me - despite trying for years - exposing myself to certain external situations never worked in reducing my anxieties. The triggers were never the outside situations, but the internal emotional states.

So I have to correct myself: yes, exposure does always work in reducing anxieties. However, sometimes the triggers are not actually outside situations, but your own emotional states. It's important to make this distinction, or all the exposure work you do will be fruitless.

[–]2 Senior Endorsed Contributorvengefully_yours0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I grew up in a severely abusive environment as well, and recognition of the root cause is essential so you can then remove or modify the emotional marker attached to the memory. Once identified you can then use flooding and other tactics to effectively change or erase the emotional response to the stimuli. Sounds easy, but it requires you to face the past and deal with all that shit you learned by beatings. Most people hide from the memories and thus become slaves to avoiding them.

[–]marlybarrow-1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I too grew up in an abusive house, is there a book that you could recommend for people like me?

One that would help me do what you just described in your post?

[–]2 Senior Endorsed Contributorvengefully_yours1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I figured it out on my own. I've had PTSD and dysthymia since I was 8 or 9, nearly 40 years now. I don't know of any books that tell you how to do what I've done. My shrinks are amazed at what I've managed in just four years, but everything I said is in books somewhere, this is what works for me and how I did it.

I build cars for fun, and diagnosis of mechanical problems means you find the what, the how, then the why, and fix the why. If your car is leaking something, you fix the leak, you don't just add more fluid. Sometimes finding the leak can be difficult, they're often elusive, hidden, or only show up under certain conditions. One problem can cause multiple failures, myriad symptoms, and have you chasing your tail trying to fix the symptoms, thats why you find the source, repair that, then remedy the symptoms.

The same thing happens with code, one bug can show up as problems all over the place. Your mind is a computer, and the abuse was input of shit code. Find the bugs and rewrite it.

It's not easy, but it can be done as long as you're not weak and your determination to live a better life outweighs the difficulty.

[–]RulerZod1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It is a danger. It's survival instincts at play as we're biologically wired for small tribes.

The fight or flight of rejection with too many girls can lead to excommunication from the tribe.

[–]2 Senior Endorsed Contributorvengefully_yours0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not a danger, it's simply a lack of experience and education from older men being passed down. Danger is death or injury, and fear of something that is harmless is irrational.

[–]cascadecombo-3 points-2 points-1 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

get to a point where

So I should hold back advice I know to work for myself and others I have talked to simply because you happen to be an outlier and assume the majority of others are too?

Nah, I'll give this advice and if OP feels it is absolutely not going to work for him that is his choice to make. Everyone handles shit differently, just like not all soldiers get PTSD.

Doing something > doing nothing.

[–]mahlzeit2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So I should hold back advice I know to work for myself and others

No, that's why I wrote if given unconditionally. Your advice is fine, it's just not the whole picture.

just like not all soldiers get PTSD.

Yes, totally. I never wrote that all do, I even said that it depends on the person. Some do, some don't. And you need to treat those who do differently if you want to help them.

Doing something > doing nothing.

Nobody said you should do nothing. Helpful things are different for different people at different times. That's all. And since the things I wrote about are helpful for people but usually not well-known I wanted to mention it so people can get a fuller picture if they read this thread.

If something works for you then great, no need to change it just because someone else needs something different right now.

I think having a few days or a week to just not think about it at all is a good thing. Then he can come back as a new man.

No Charm, No Love

If you can be disciplined in this things will get better.

Back in the old, old days women were expected to Charm men. It was just assumed that women played the feminine role and used their physical attraction combined with a Charming (Charm means they seek you out and study you) personality to get you interested so that one day you would be their Captain in life and she would be your loyal Firstmate.

These days this is all backwards...

Men go around Charming women like they are themselves women.

You must stop this and Kill the Beta.

So in the future if a woman does not Charm you stick to the rule and let no Romantic sensation emerge towards her.

Lust combined with your brain produces Romance which is not Love.

Love is being the Captain. Love is Proud and never Needy.

Know what is misguided Lust (beta Romance) and what is Love. (Captain Red Pill)

And if you aren't Loving a woman feel free to fuck the slut... No Charm, No Love. (Lust only)

Love is held in reserve for only the obedient and Charming woman.

I'm with you brother, I'm probably one of the few endorsed guys around here going into monk mode. It's my second time at it, again after making some heavily aggressive financial moves which didn't pan out (Oooh entrepreneurship, you can be such a mean bitch at times). Then got a normal persons job, and realized how fucking plebe and boring it was. So I'm putting my head back down and going to hit the grind.

Going monk, imo, is the best thing a guy can do for himself in the long run. It's all about removing distractions and laser focusing on on goals.

Here is what I do, and I recommend you do as well (I learned this is a method many very successful people do to stay on track):

Set some clear goals, both short term and long term. Then figure out what you need to do to achieve those goals. Then get one of those big ass fucking calendars and mark those goals down on the appropriate dates. And in between those dates, mark down your tasks you need to complete on each required day in between.

Say for instance, you want to lose 10 pounds as a short term goal, within the next 2 months. Great, so mark down that down 2 months out. Then in between, write down "Go to the Gym" on 3-4 days each week. Then on 5-6 of those days write down, "Maintain diet".

Then EVERY SINGLE night, before you go to bed, check off those boxes on that big fucking calendar.

Then as time goes on, you'll start to see those x marks filling up the calendar, and it'll start making you proud. It's like watching a strategy all going to plan. You start feeling like you're completing a game. So next time you are lazy and think, "Uggg, I don't want to go to the gym" you can look at that big fucking calendar and you'll think, "Fuck, I haven't missed a day in 3 weeks. I can't have that calendar have a big mark of failure on it. I can't allow myself to break this winning streak."

And do this with EVERYTHING on your list of goals. You want a new skills? Mark that shit down. Want to finish a book to learn about something that'll help you? 3 days a week better have a 1 hour time slot ready to be marked off.

Do this with everything. It's like balancing your budget, but instead, it's balancing your time. And time is the most valuable finite resource any human being can have, so don't fucking waste it on bullshit.

I don't know your exact goals, but you can always message me sometime, and we can go over them. But if I were to guess from what you've provided I'd start with creating a plan involving:

  • Gym time. Set some fitness goals for yourself and start hitting that as soon as possible.
  • Solving social anxiety. Go get some books, make some time in there to read them, absorb them. And then set small milestone goals as well as activities that relate directly to helping your social anxiety.
  • Skills. Figure out what your job needs to give you a promotion. Or figure out what you need to learn to get a better job. And start working on learning those things. Udemy, Khanacademy, Codeacademy, fucking whatever. This is the information age, it's all out there for free.
  • Meditation. 10 minutes a day. You need this shit, trust me. It helps smooth out your brain, and will have the greatest impact in the short term.
  • Practice game. Go out there, and pick up chicks. But refuse to give them your number or take theirs. Just make an objective that 3x a week, you'll approach a random woman, and try to get her attracted to you. Then drop her, regardless of outcome. Just do it, to do it.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I have always thought 'monk mode' has been used as a further excuse by some members to further isolate themselves from women and reality. It suits you because you think you are changing yourself.I know it works for some people but I already know this is not the case for you.

You do not need monk mode to ' learn to separate my self worth from pussy'. This can be done overnight by reading the sidebar and learning the truth. It will not lead to pussy. Lift, sort your life out, and just approach. Talk to both women and men.

[–]ScottRikkard2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yup, involuntary monk mode is not monk mode. I think monk mode is reserved for those who tasted enough pussy to know and feel they have better things to do for a period of time, a big project etc.

Others should try no fap, and focus on real life interaction. After all red pill IS a sexual strategy.

[–]Jojonounee0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I think monk mode is reserved for those who tasted enough pussy

This is exactly the opposite of why I'm going to do monkmode, to increase my SMV enough to be able to taste enough pussy.

Good luck. My value is pretty big but my game is shit. Guess what? But to each his own.

Good point, you got me thinking.

If you want to make monk mode even more productive, go pick up No More Mr. Nice Guy. Great book for transitioning from blue to red.

Make sure to read the sidebar material if you haven't already. It's a slog, and even depressing at times, but I can't impress upon you how much those readings helped me understand my problems and what I had to do.

Better to find out you suck and doing something about it at 24 than to think you’re shit hot and discovering you are just shit at 41

EDIT TO ADD

I thought I was getting better. Being more Alpha. Strolled into a Tactical/Survival store the other day & instantly was in the company of fair dinkum Alpha’s. I felt so fucking small, I knew I was completely outclassed. The owner of the store told me after his customer left that the previous guy was a sniper who’d just got back from Afghanistan. The owner definitely gave off a “I’m not to be fucked with” vibe.

The upside of it though was I knew I had to do what I had to do in order to improve my standing. Lifting weights helps. Training harder at Judo helps. But it’s the mental game.

If I could give few advices, they would be - Know your sphere of influence (you have power over yourself and your emotions/actions/reactions with the world, but not directly over anything outside),
Value your opinion about yourself more than women's (cause it will suck eventually, they can't be happy) and after doing what you can to improve every day - relax.

(edit) Also - read all the top posts, from the beginning of time.

Hey mate. It's great you've got the time to put into monk mode. I just want to put it out there that you shouldn't be seeking to isolate yourself. You need to warm up to social situations if you want to work on your anxiety. Good luck!

Monk mode is not the solution, dude. We are social creatures (read a book "Social:why are we wired to connect" by Matthew Lieberman) and you shouldn't deny your nature. Continue to improve yourself. You are the common denominator in all your interactions and that is where you should focus.

The fear of approaching women drops drastically the more you do it.....your "fear" is all about what you think will happen.....after you do it a couple hundred times you will know that what you feared wasn't nearly as bad as what you had placed in your head. Keep doing it and you will eventually not give the slightest fuck what girls think and anything you used to fear won't mean shit.

Start small if you have to and approach 5 random women a day. You don't even have to try and get a number or anything....just talk to them for a bit. Do this everyday and within a month you won't think twice about going up to a girl to strike up a conversation. Even if only 5% are interested in you.....talk to 10 women a day and you just increased your available pool of potential dates from zero to 15 a month.

Start small but you have to keep making forward progress. Don't let fear make the choices for you....make the choice to ignore fear. It's hard at first but anything worth having is worth working hard for.

'Monk mode' should be the effect - not the cause. If you're thinking I'm socially awkward, have no chance with the kind of women I'm attracted to, so I will ignore them all, you're not going to be able to fix anything.

If instead you say I'm going to do whatever it takes, and start working out, fixing your diet/fashion, join toastmasters so you can learn to speak in public without fear, heck, even volunteer with one of those political people standing on street corners asking people to sign their petition or something. (Whatever it takes, remember?). If you do that, you will have no time for women. And you will find that they will start flocking.

But you have to be serious about yourself first.

Every guy who goes into 'monk mode' already was in monk mode and is only doing it to make it seem like a choice, fucking pathetic.

This guy is here saying he wants to focus less on pussy because the social pressure brings him terrible anxiety and here we are telling him to get a hooker.

OP, focus on yourself bro. There is a fence in manhood and usually one side has the guys who've put so much energy into women, chasing women they've lost out on valuable time to attain things important to them. On the other side are guys who went after their goals but wonder what life could've been like bangin chicks out left and right. I'm here to tell you that you're left with nothing substantial aside from some ego issues after bangin a bunch of chicks. A facade you use to make yourself feel worthy. Worthy of a woman's attention, company, compliments...

Women don't do this for us. They don't sit around masturbating to videos of us wasting their time. They don't pay for sex with us. They don't try to get their "game" together for us. They don't aim to get a good career for us. They do things simply because they're the things they want out of life. If they want sex, they can get it and never even have to be "good" at it. Your God given body part might not even live up to her expectation and she'll be over it.

You gotta keep your eyes on self improvement and when a woman falls in line, make sure she is the right fit for you or it's a no go. Never settle. Never compromise. They gotta get on your level or get lost.
