In the same sense that other persecuted individuals throughout history (gays, people of colour, etc.) have taken historical pejoratives and turned them into badges of honour, we men take the accusation of being "boys rather than men" and say:
"If your definition of a 'man' is one who bends to your whim, then we are proud to have the freedom and privilege of being boys. Now, get out of our sandbox."

That is ironic, in that it betrays a complete ignorance of the history and the implications of that word. That redpillers are hubristic enough to think they can "take it back" supports the idea that they are not men. The word "puer" has much deeper roots than a couple of angry feminists. Also, men don't care who calls them boys. The "puerarchy" is acting exactly like the "oppressed," self-victimizing women it disparages -- but worse, because it claims to know better.

and ends up supporting the idea that you are not men.
Whose idea? Feminists?
I've had feminists make more sandwiches for me than factual statements.

Men know what they're doing when they take bold action. Whoever called this the "puerarchy" clearly doesn't. Acting like a boy in the name of acting like a man, and being unaware he's doing it? That's not manhood.

If you don't like the name, then go start a subreddit of your own.
Give it a cool name like "Men With Jetpacks" or some shit.

It's not me -- it's an incredibly short-sighted name, and it's bad for you, no matter what. If that name doesn't change, whoever is involved will be a laughing stock. And the people who are laughing will be right.

Oh dear. We wouldn't want people judging us, now would we?
The Red Pill is information with which you can change your perspective, your opportunities, and your life. And that's all it is.
It's not a revolution. It's not a movement. And it's not your personal mouthpiece.
If you want to start a revolution, you're free to do so. But stop acting like a woman and complaining about what other people are doing.
Take some initiative and do it yourself.

The Red Pill is information with which you can change your perspective, your opportunities, and your life.
I know. I did it.
stop acting like a woman and complaining about what other people are doing.
Exactly. Stop fighting with radical feminists, stop giving a shit what they think, or what they say about you, or if they call you "boys rather than men." If they're wrong, let them be wrong, and go about your business. What you're doing is making them right, and that's why you can't let it go -- they make you doubt yourself.
And you should.
In the same sense that other persecuted individuals throughout history (gays, people of colour, etc.) have taken historical pejoratives and turned them into badges of honour, we men take the accusation of being "boys rather than men"
1) You're not oppressed or persecuted
2) This is exactly what the self-victimizing "oppressed women" you rail against do.
You say "Who cares if we're judged!" and "Let's name ourselves after the people who judge us!" in the same damn sentence.
You're not other people. You're my people. And I don't want you to humiliate yourselves and prevent untold numbers of men from joining your ranks.

So, concern trolling it is.
Why are you embarrassed for us over the opinions of people we don't like?
Fuck em.

Notice the "radical feminists"
[–]harmonylion[S] -1 points0 points1 point 13 years ago* (8 children) | Copy Link
I'm actually concerned for you over the opinions of people who might otherwise join you. If you make asses of yourselves, struggling beta men who are looking for answers might think you have none, which isn't true.
I believe in this community. I believe in what it aims to do. And I think that calling a redpill community "puerarchy" is the height of naivete and counterproductiveness. It's a very puerile thing to do, and when the radfems laugh at you for missing the irony, I won't be able to defend you.

Oh dear, the bandwagon fallacy. Well, good thing we're not on the bandwagon.

It wouldn't be the first time a phenomena has captured a historical concept and redefined it. There are many ways of interpreting the usage of this word. Your interpretation and HumanSockPuppet's interpretation are both valid. I can see how you view it as a form of oppression Olympics and i can also see how the term can be used as a proverbially flipping the bird to contemporary western expectations.
Which point of view is more valid will depend on how "puerarchy" is used by us in our modern context.
[–]harmonylion[S] 2 points3 points4 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Thanks for approaching this rationally, but there are layers of this that you seem to be missing too:
In no culture does "boy" mean "man." It's not flipping the bird to contemporary western culture, it's trying to hijack a universal term because it seems snarky. "Puer" has meant "boy" for literally thousands of years. It's impossible, like trying to make "coward" mean "hero."
To attempt to do what I just described is itself a puerile act. In attempting to defy the definition of the word, you're actually fitting it.
In addition to that, continuing to participate in the oppression Olympics is also puerile. There is nothing about this name that could possibly reflect well on the manliness of redpillers or give them or their ideas credibility. They are more likely to be seen as the male counterpart to radfems, because that is what this actually reeks of.

Gay is not a pejorative though. On the contrary.
"Niggah" and "Faggot" would be closer to your intent, but I don't know about any Niggah or Faggot movements.

Passes the feminism shit test.
Feminism Shit Test: "You're not a man!" Failure Method #1: "I know I could be better, what should do to fix that and become a man?" Failure Method #2: "Yes, I am too a man!!" Passing the Shit Test: "lol, wanna have sex with a boy before he kicks your annoying ass out?"
Most of society seems to be taking Failure Method #1 whereas you seem to be suggesting Failure Method #2. I'll just stick with Passing the Shit Test.

"You're not a man!"
Sometimes, I'm a complete animal. * stares the fuck out of the bitch *
[–]harmonylion[S] -1 points0 points1 point 13 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Why do you care about passing the shit test of a group about whose opinions you don't care? Does America rename itself "the great satan" to pass the taliban's shit test? No, we just go about our business. The red pill should just go about its. The feud with feminism is a big distraction from becoming better men.
And, really passing feminism's "shit test" would be saying, "What could I do better?" Then listen to them, then decide for yourself what they may have been right about. They can't say you didn't listen, you can't say you agree with everything, discussion's over, move on. Thanks fems, bye!

It's a figure of speech. It's simply a way of saying that a group of men have decided not to provide the services men are expected to provide, because it's all work and no reward.
We'd rather be "boys" if it means rejecting that role, and choosing to live for ourselves.
But none of us actually think we're boys in a literal sense, at least I hope not! Lol
[–]PittHarman -1 points0 points1 point 13 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
The name is appropriate if you consider how the meaning behind the words "boy" and "man" have been subtly changed.
Its mind control at its best IMO.
A "Man" was forceful, independent and responsible TO society. That is now the meaning of "boy."
A "Man" now is to be told what to do by a feminized society, dependent on the good will of society for his very freedom and is responsible FOR the laziest most unproductive members.
Changing the meaning of words is an effective cultural meme resulting in a societal level change. Or in this case a gender wide change in behavior.
The combination of letters is not important, since society has redefined the words boy and man, Puer is a fine name.

Only -- and I do mean only -- by a small group of people, about whose opinions you claim to not care. Not "society."
A leader serves others. That will never change.

{Only -- and I do mean only -- by a small group of people, about whose opinions you claim to not care. Not "society."}
This comment seems irrelevant. I think you did not read my comment. It was an explanation of a reason for the "puer" in Puerarchy.
I have no reliable estimate as to whether its a small group or a large one. I doubt if you do either. I believe, and its only a belief, that you pull that statement out of your ass.
{A leader serves others. That will never change.} Do you have a reference to prove this? You state it as fact. More ass-pulling I'd wager.
IMHO
A leader is served by followers to accomplish some goal. For example, General Patton lead the 8th Army in France. The goal was to push the German Army out of France. The soldiers following him served him as he, the general, thought best.
I sincerely doubt that General Patton's soldiers felt that he served them since they nick-named him "old blood and guts."
If you get those references please post them.
