The guy watching the XMen movie reminds me of a guy I knew, good job, not bad looking guy, but he had a few unique hobbies. Anyway he liked this hot chick who I happened to know so I set them up together. She was always bitching about how she dates losers. Then a month later she starts bitching about how the guy is boring. Two months later she dumps the guy. Then a month later she starts fucking some loser who gets her pregnant, he fucks off so she has an abortion. After that she is bitching about why she always dates losers. She actually tried to get back together with the guy who I set her up with, but he didn't want anything to do with her :-)

There are lots of good guys out there but they are "boring" :-)

It's like nobody ever told her that if everyone you meet is an asshole... then you're the asshole. She suffers through all these bad relationships and thinks the problem is ALL MENZ!!! rather than perhaps that she lacks the attributes to attract a quality man. His response is solid. No, half the population (men) doesn't suck. Just you.

Interesting article, and I think the blogger is on point. Two things come to mind:

There's the saying that if you smell shit everywhere you go, look at your shoe. The implication is that you are responsible for the quality of your own world and the relationships in them. If it sucks, look at yourself. That is indeed true.

However, I believe it's important to point out that this can happen by action and also inaction. For example, you can choose to approach low quality women because you're setting your standards low. It can also happen from inaction: not cutting the wrong people out of your life.

While I agree with that, I also think the mentality of blaming the common denominator is trotted out a bit too easily these days. It's a bit lazy. We also have to recognize that it may be (however remote) just chance. It is not impossible to be surrounded by poor people while striving to be your best, just by happenstance. The difference is what you do about it.

It's also interesting when you flip the genders in the article. A lot of it could apply to guys, too. A simple statement like the term AWALT we use around here basically infers the same thing: most women are bratty, entitled, and superficial. Many of the FR or comments about women take the same approach and tone: categorically labelling and dismissing women (I've done this myself), just as the writer Rebecca did. What's the difference?

I'm not sure myself. My first thought is that we try to do something about it. We don't just whine. TRP advocates improving your life.

However, I'm wondering what others think: what's the distinction between when we (truthfully, in my opinion) label women's behaviour categorically, and what the writer "Rebecca" does in the article?

This article is solid gold, and for someone who is not openly TRP adherent, quite laudable. There is only one point on which I would expand, and it is major:

We hear all of the handwringing about the decline of masculinity and the disappearance of ‘real men,’ yet very little is ever said about the corresponding deterioration of femininity.

He doesn't go into a lot of detail here, but it is warranted on this sub. Yes, masculinity and femininity are in a decline. But understand that this did not happen concomitantly. It took a couple waves of feminism to slowly bring down the female gender role, and masculinity deteriorated in kind!

Ian Ironwood had an amazing quote, and it was "you cannot have revolution in a vacuum." What he meant was that women can't throw off the vestiges of the female gender role, all while expecting the deal of traditional gender interactions to remain in tact. That is, you can't be the high minded, cynical career woman without an eventual backlash in the form of a bumper crop of emasculated men that utterly repulse you.

This is the situation we are in today. It's eerily similar to the Nietzsche quote "God is dead, and it is we who have killed him." But this time, it is "men are dead, and it is women who have killed them. Strangely enough, it doesn't stop women from blaming men for their fate."

It just seems like this is the only kind of man left. It’s a f**ked up situation because women are always forced to settle or just be alone. I’m not needy or demanding but I want a man who is a man.

Then YOU have to be a WOMAN. However, you are correct in part. Even with a truly feminine woman, unlike the linked post, there are very, very few MEN around. This is the SAME type of "woman" who behaves like an emasculating feminist, who votes for progressives, and comments about the evils of the patriarchy.

These are not perfect or flawless men, but they are decent, honest, and kind.

I can't tell whether or not he realizes that those are not the qualities that excite and attract women.
