For the most part my job is decent. I’m grateful to have a job. The pay is ok, benefits are slightly sub par and the people are ok. With that being considered I’ve been given new responsibilities for the summer. These new responsibilities have been tailored to help the company of course and they have not been accompanied with any raises.

With that being said a lot more working hours are involved. It’s been sold to me as “it’s part of the job”. However I still get paid for just 40 hours a week. I’m in a position where I work with a lot of old school mother fuckers that believe in working 60+ hours a week. Which is fine, but am I wrong for wanting compensation?

Considering that I’m now driving further to this job I am wasting more gas and working the same hours for the same pay so essentially I’m making considerably less money. But is this how jobs are? Is it normal to be paid for just 40 hours yet expected to work 60+?

The guy I work with explained it to me like this “sometimes you work 100 hrs a week and other weeks you just work 20.” I highly doubt there are many, if any, weeks where you’d work 20 hrs a week here but 100 hrs and 20 hrs do not inversely equate.

The other day I left 15 fuckin minutes early (because of the fact that the work was completed early) and the cock sucker says to me “I remember days you leave early”. I thought to myself- are you fuckin serious? I’m getting paid 8 hrs per day you dum fuck and I’m working 10 sometimes PLUS weekends that I don’t get paid for- are you gonna remember that too?
