Does anyone do gig work (uber/lyft/instacart/etc)? What’s the best way to make extra money for the holidays?

I don’t know what your availability is like with kids and all or what your specialty is, but retail and restaurants are begging for people for holiday hours.

Otherwise, I’ve heard Uber/Lyft aren’t the safest gigs for women so I’d suggest you get some pepper spray and/or install a good thick barrier between the front seat and back seat if you want to go that route.

If you have limited availability, you won't get hired for seasonal retail. They need people who can work all evenings, weekends, and holidays.

I have not done gig work myself and IMO it doesn't sound all that sustainable; but it might be worth a try for a short period. I wouldn't do Uber or Lyft, I wouldn't drive strangers around unless I could limit it to only women passengers. Maybe you could do deliveries - UberEats, Grubhub, Skip the Dishes, Doordash, one of those.

I would not do this kind of work for too long because it can cause some serious wear and tear on your vehicle. My ex ruined not one but two vehicles, doing newspaper deliveries every night for months.
