If after months you have not formed a deeper connection with someone than to still be in the initial stages of dating and vetting then it probably isn't going anywhere and you are both wasting your time.

That's a you problem. Work on yourself and gain confidence. Don't talk about annoying things or in an annoying way.

I don't know why this would be weird. If you are anticipating a relationship being awkward you will be awkward in relationships. Don't pursue people who you are not interested in or well matched with.

how do I tell the difference between "this girl enjoys talking to me" and "this girl is being polite"?

You listen to what she says. If it's really that difficult to do then you can do some research into communication to figure it out.

Like the other commenter said, after months of dating you should have formed a deeper relationship where people don’t need to vet as much and are more comfterble communicating as they know each other.

Initially, texting should just be to set up a date or for conversation surrounding setting up the date. Conversations should not be over text so that you form a connection in person rather than random lettering on a screen. So then you can tell in person if the person is interested or not. So just text her “Hey want to go on a date with me X night Y place?”. then text with her until it’s confirmed. then save all of your beautiful conversation points until your date. rinse repeat.

Next I want to talk about what your ideal texting would be in a partner.

Would you want to text daily? you said you’d want someone to text about some weird bug to start a conversation. is that immidiately after finding the bug? or text like an hour later to let you know how your day is?

FDS talks about not texting first when vetting. But doesn’t really go into long term texting (as far as I am aware). Peronally, I hate texting. I’d rather save the conversation for when we are in person- or there is nothing to talk about. For me, texting daily would be a dealbreaker.

All you have to do is figure out what your dealbreakers are for texting and communicate with her about what your expectations are and figure out hers. then you and her either compromise or break up because you aren’t compatible.
