There was an interesting post on FLS that inspired this question and I wanted to hear what the ladies of FDS thought. The woman in question was concerned about not being "alluring" or "sexy" enough. A lot of the comments focused on how low value male attention was (which I agree with) and how it shouldn't matter, but I felt like that was a tad dismissive of how human and natural her concern was. We don't live in a vacuum and it is only human to want positive reinforcement from others in everything in life, and being admired by whatever gender you're attracted to is just an extension of this in my opinion. And not to mention, sometimes our personal goals will be strongly affected by external opinion and action (i.e.: wanting to be married to and have kids with your partner, or getting a promotion at work).

What do you fellow FDS ladies think about this? How do we balance having self confidence/assurance and the desire for external, positive feedback? Is there an acceptable middle ground where we can stay true to ourselves, while still acknowledging and responding to some external factors?
