What are your views on calling people out if they have done wrong to you?

Since reading NMMNG and WISNIFG and applying a IDGAF attitude, I have found myself calling people out if being disrespected, however, my current scenario is with my Ex-wife. Her father had to take something off my car ( given to her as part of property settlement ) however when it was returned to me, it was all scratched up ( it is obvious that it was placed down on concrete/asphalt and slid across to cause these deep gashes to the metal ) - there is no way that where it was placed on car that it could have been anything but done on purpose. ( I mean - I could replace/repair the area for $50 -$100, Item worth about $2000, but thats not the issue ) I recently called her father out on something, and feel this is his revenge. The issue is that the father avoids me, so I would have to talk to the Ex, but I feel like saying something to the Ex ( when she collects kids ) something along the lines of " Hey - thank whoever took .......... off the car for me would you. Banger job scuffing it all up " - knowing it would get back to her father.

I am still learning so - Is this petty?, Should I just let it go, or should I call them out on it? ( ie: Should I call out her father directly, instead of a snarky comment to Ex, or say it to the Ex ?) Am i entering the fathers frame knowing he got to me if I say anything ?
