Why are you not wearing your gym clothes?

Seriously though, don't overthink it. Wear what is comfortable. Throw out stuff with holes in it and dump the chinese fake Crocs.

Rule of thumb, if you have to run to the room to put on other clothes when 'people' come to your house maybe you are just a little under dressed.

I spent most of my time at home naked. It's just me, my wife, and a 2month old baby for the moment though. Not sure how much is going to change. Maybe I'll get a robe or smoking jacket and pajama pants.

I work from home regularly, but my wardrobe consists of the following:

Button-down collared shirts, fitted in blues, white, grays, and black
Polo Knits, fitted in blues, muted reds, and grays
Jeans in slim and loose fits and all straight
Jeans in boot flare
dress slacks in grays and khakis
shorts of varying (mostly khaki) colors and styles
light-hiking merino wool socks (for boots and as everyday socks)
argyle dress socks in various color combos (for every day socks and work.
T-shirts I almost never wear anymore
Tight, very fitting black T-shirts (what I wear when I wear T-shirts)
My underarmour compressions hirts for gym
gym shorts
athletic socks (also as every day socks in shorts)
waistcoats in varying shades of gray, one light blue, and one striped khaki.
ties of varying color and style, but mostly in stripes.
A pair of black roper boots
Vans for casual
athletic shoes
dress shoes

If I go to work, I am wearing a polo and dress slacks in the summer and a button-down/waistcoat + tie in the winter. (I almost never wear a button down as a dress shirt without a waistcoat) When I come home, I change into jeans and a black T-shirt or shorts and T-shirt.

If we are going somewhere where I will be in the public eye for any amount of time, I will change into a polo, or wear a button down casually, even if she is wearing a sweatshirt and basically dressing down; I will always dress better than my wife if I can.

If I am popping into Target or the grocery store, I stick with what I have on, usually the jeans + Black T-shirt.

If we are going to the same types of places... I purposely dress better.

When I drive for Uber, jeans and a black T-shirt, always. The T-shirts accentuate my physique, black is slimming, and my look ends up being the clean-cut bad boy.

I never wear athletic shoes as everyday shoes anymore

I wear dress shoes even with jeans when I can.

I try to get as much waistcoat use as possible.

I still get comments from her like, "why'd you change, you have some girlfriends at Target?" or, "we're just going to the Mexican place down the street, who are you trying to impress?"

My answer: "Oh, I have fans everywhere..." Bonus points here if I've put on cologne or aftershave.

My hair... always done.

Always look good.

In my old job when I was wearing suits for work, I'd change out of it because otherwise dry cleaning bills would go through the roof with kids and all, and it doesn't really look like a suit without the jacket anyway. But I'd change into something other that looked good.

Once you're buff your options for looking good expands. Depending on how well you do with the lifting and dieting a wife beater can make you look like a slob or be a great chance to show off your guns.

My trick? Don't own shirts without collars.

I have more suits than tshirts (non gym ones)

A polo shirt or henley with a nice pair of jeans is just as comfy, and you don't look like a slob

This is a great fucking question. I've often wondered about it. I have no idea if I'm way off target but here is what I've been doing to address this concern. What I do is keep my work stuff on until after dinner. I'll even go so far as to break out a fucking apron to protect my clothes if need be (I sometimes cook dinner if she is out with the kids and I'm home first). After dinner is finished and kitchen is clean and homework is finished, I put on a nicer t-shirt or long sleeve shirt and either a pair of shorts that fit or sweat pants that fit. Fit is key. Clean and fit. Not baggy. As long as what you are wearing is clean and fits you're probably not looking like a slob. Can you still see your muscular frame under the clothes? If not, it doesn't fit.
